Came across this article this morning while scanning news headlines. I'm skeptical. Thoughts?

Super dubious. Doesn't fit the plan. SpaceX doesn't need the money or the distraction of answering to quarterly earnings.

Updated: Teslarati was able to connect with Empire Capital Partners via phone call and speak to a representative in regards to the reported email sent by the firm. Empire Capital Partners confirmed the email, however also qualified it by saying they were reaching out to clients floating the idea of a SpaceX IPO in an attempt to gather more interest from clients in Tesla, Inc. They do not have any evidence of SpaceX preparing for an IPO, and they believed the best way to gain potential early interest is through an investment in Tesla.

Doesn't seem like a legit SpaceX initiative.

Another skeptic, Eric Berger:

Rumors starting again about a SpaceX IPO ... I remain highly skeptical.

I deal with rockets, so when I get things along this line I say "Oh" and then get befuddled by words I don't know much about. :)

Needless to say, this IPO rumor comes up every year, like clockwork.

However, we should also remember there's an obviousness about things like money raising if that IAC speech is going to become a reality. I just get the sense it won't be the same as saying "Ding Ding Ding. SpaceX is now trading itself in public! Buy now. BUY!!!!" etc. ;D

For now, this is clearly one of those "like clockwork someone screams IPO rumor leak" so let's just lock it.
