Project management

Hello!
I have just seen a video in which Dan Rasky described his experience of working in Spacex. And he said how Spacex team made decisions on design its rockets in 2008. At that moment for Spacex worked few hundreds engineers and they made decisions very quickly. Today they have 6 000 workers. I wonder what kind of type of project management they are using now. For example, PMBOK or maybe they use PRINCE2. I suppose that for software development they use agile methodologies. I want to know what system of project management they use to design exactly engineering item, not software!
