I built a base for my Apollo 13 model and changed the LM to have its gear deployed. Dragon 1/72 kit.

For the Apollo 14 50th Anniversary, I built a model of the LM Antares in lunar orbit as it awaited the go for powered descent. The kit is the 1/72 Dragon LM with modifications and the moon is from an old wall light.

Next up was the Apollo 15 50th anniversary build. Since I built the deep space EVA a few years ago, I built the Space Cadet Models Sub-Satellite launch during the flight.

For the 40th anniversary of STS-1, I built the 1/100 scale Tamiya orbiter as Columbia on that flight. I had to scratch build the payload bay details and used Lake County Spaceport decals for the tiles. I re-created the STS-1 patch using a real photo of Earth and my models too.

Just being curious - how many space-related models do you have ? and how many shelves and room to show them all ?

This is just part of them. Older ones get sold, stored or used for spare parts for newer builds.

A few months ago, I decided to build another Saturn V-Skylab in 1/144 scale and make it more accurate based on what I have learned over the last few years. I built it with two workshop parts so it can display each aspect of the troubled flight.

Shortly after liftoff, the micro-meteorite shield rips free and falls off. One of the solar arrays is partially deployed.

After the first stage is jettisoned, the interstage fails to fall off, and very nearly causes a disaster when the J-2 engines on the S-II stage overheat. If this had been a crewed flight, they would have aborted.

When the S-II stage departs, the separation motors blast away one of the loose solar arrays.

I had fun with this build and donated my first Skylab to a friend who is a Skylab historian. I knew she would give it a good home.
