Another recent project was the WRESAT Redstone launcher from Horizon Models.  I made the launch tower for it, getting reference from the Australian Defense Department.  I scratch built the upper stages for it as well.

I am taking two old Revell Shuttle Launch Tower kits I have had for a long time and working the backwards into an Apollo Launch Umbilical Tower.  It is going slow and it is very complex.  Since the tower is a bit under scale, I matched the White Room level and worked from there. After splicing the towers together, I mounted them to a platform, using the elevator shaft as the main support.  The rest of the structure is being built around that. Swing arms were made from modifying the kit swing arms. I had extras from a garage sale find years ago.  After the main structure is finished, I will paint it and then add the white pipes and other details.  It has been fun so far!

After the arms have been detailed:  I have to add the sway support that swings down and lightning mast.  And then time to finish the platform.

LUT in 1/144 scale progress. Main painting is done. I need to get some yellow paint. I forgot the can I had was the one that exploded a few months ago! My Plastruct tube order arrived today. I am going to hold off on adding those until the painting is finished. Apollo 17 now sits on the pad. It is a heavily modified Airfix kit. The LUT will be #3 and will have Apollo 17 on it.

I have added some more pipes to the LUT and platform. I still have a few more details to add on those and make the hold down arms and umbilicals for the S-IC stage. I am extremely happy with how it looks right now, even if it isn'y totally accurate!

I finished up my Saturn V LUT.  I may go back and add a few things like cameras or antennas in the future.  I am extremely happy with it!

I’ve never seen a better use of the oddly-scaled Revell LUT.  You’ve got a gorgeous display piece there.  Bravo!

Neil Armstrong's first step. The kit is a re-issued Revell "Astronaut on the Moon" in 1/8 scale. I modified this model a great deal. Adding details such as PLSS hoses, EVA antenna, Oxygen Purge Ball, EVA Tether and new patches and markings. I also detailed the leg with different colors of mylar. And added a flag holder and two extra rungs. I also modified the helmet to make it more accurate.
