Everytime i see the mobile toilets less than 50 meters away from the launch pad of what is going to be a pretty big rocket in itself, i can not help but think of the prank potential.

Raptor kind of looks like she snuck onto the worksite early in the morning with her pumps in her hand and her hairness a hot mess.

Secret question you won't admit you are thinking...but I will ask for you:

Could you toast marshmallows on the launch exhaust of a Falcon 9, and if so where would the perfect location be to plant your spindle (or greenstick for traditionalists)...either pad 40 or 39A...if you could.

I have oft wondered about this - who wouldn't?

The conclusion I came to, alas, is that F9 launch is not suitable to roasting marshmallows, because F9 burns kerosene. In other words, its exhaust smells like jet exhaust. And that's not a good flavor addition to a marshmallow.

The best I could come up with was use the heat, but keep the fumes out. A steel box should work, especially if mounted in the exhaust duct. It makes me wonder if SpaceX is already doing this?

For true direct roasting, I think BFR is what's needed; its exhaust should not impart unpleasant odors to the marshmallows.

Another field of research needed; how hot are the grid fins upon landing? Still hot enough to use as waffle irons? If not, what kind of engineering tweaks are needed to preserve sufficient reentry heat for this needed capability?

So long as no one feeds the BFR Beans the night before.

...Or after midnight.

Do you want gremlins? Because that's how you get gremlins!

If that's a new steel building going up, there should be building permits.

Innovative way to skip on paperwork. Wanna erect a large steel structure in your backyard and didn't find time to file for a permit?

No worries, just call the thing an orbital class launch vehicle.

Especially practical for water towers, really no one can tell the difference ;)

What if this is really about them opening a brewery and they've been playing us for free publicity for months?  And, with kettles that large it wouldn't be a microbrewery, what are the next steps up from micro?

In that case, the next test dummie will be called Booze Lightbeer.

That reminds me of the Helecoptor landing for the Ten Tors a couple of years back :)

Whatever they are brewing in there, Jim Bridenstine seems to like it. :D But will it be enough for Congress? Might need a bigger kettle!

On one of the Grasshopper/F9R-dev 1 flights, I don't recall which off hand, SpaceX demonstrated this quite thoroughly.  Only thing missing was a dummy on the john at the time.  But it got blasted pretty darn good.

EDIT: I found it.  It was the first F9R-dev 1 flight.  Linking the Youtube video below.  Pay attention to the port-a-potty during the landing (starts around 0:55 of the video; helps to view full screen on high resolution).  It starts out between the nearest red trailer and the landing pad.  Even though the prime "money shot" is obscured by the body of the rocket, you can see where it ended up after the dust clears.

well lets hope they at least secure those mobile methane plants a little better than they did for F9R
Tried to tell you, we did.  Listen, you did not.  Now, screwed we all are.
