My plans for world domination foundered because the team floundered around trying to decide if the orbiting mind control lasers should be red, green, or blue, and that caused so much lack of progress, and bitter arguing, that all the backers withdrew their funds.

That wouldn't be the first project to wallow over bikeshedding ;) I assume you have a plan B ?

Don't underestimate the importance of looking out a window.

I'm done with this. https://twitter.com/Foone/status/1014267515696922624
You want to be inspired by things. You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great. That's what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. It's about believing in the future and believing the future will be better than the past. And I can't think of anything more exciting than being out there among the stars.

No arguing please. There's a bigger picture in all of this.

The sub:

Ummm... thought I'd best reply here, as I don't quite understand what I'm looking at in that pic.
Does the mini-sub have a cloaking device?

Looks a heck of a lot like our friend from the first Jurassic Park movie...

Looks like a humpback whale going in for a snack.

Doubtful that BFR will ever be volume limited.

Here is a silly homage to our awesome John Insprucker.  I hope the coolest cat this side of the galaxy doesn't mind a little ribbing.  In good fun. Just for levity. I blame CraigLieb.

Not being completely versed in this Telstar gadget I did a little research. Apparently it goes back a ways and has it's own theme. Remix the satellite so I guess a remix on the theme is required. Time to fly.  8)

Are the police cars normally there for traffic control and I just didn't notice them before or...

Did they finally catch the sniper?

GOOD ORBIT!

Data back!

Phew.
Just a ground station issue.  Not a Falcon 9 issue.
Roger that, NASASpaceFlight. We copy you in good orbit. You got a bunch of folks about to turn blue. We're breathing again. Thanks a lot, ChrisG. :)

>Video feed cuts off right before SECO-2
>Orbital parameters freeze
>Webcast host goes silent for a minute or two, frantic typing noises heard

If SpaceX was trying to give me a heart attack, they did a damn good job, yeesh.  That long silence gave me CRS-7 flashbacks.  I was still running through all of the possible SECO failure modes (and the downtime we might expect for each of them) in my head when they finally confirmed it was just a telemetry issue.

On the plus side, the light show from the returning first stage was fantastic!

Congrats to SpaceX, SSL, Telstar and everyone involved! What an amazing launch again.
Up to the next launch and hopefully first capture of fairings!!
Exciting times. :)

PS: Also amazing I can do all this over 4G from a camping site in Slovenia (on holiday)

Agreed, great effort and worth staying up for.

I was getting concerned with how long there was no coverage from the ASDS.  I miss the telemetry on the first stage return as well.

Oh and the brief re-entry video with sparks flying was excellent

Congrats to SpaceX and Telesat on the successful launch of Telstar 19V.

I actually had no idea that it would be deployed to a sub-GTO until a few minutes ago.
Because the Falcon Heavy Test Flight was successful, it has inspired thousands of people to consider changing the future of space travel.
