Was I the only one whose heart was absolutely thumping as we crossed T-10 seconds through until the booster was several kilometers up? I mean, launches normally get the old heart rate up, but this was more than usual given the circumstances.

Nope!  I went "YESSS!!" when it got to T-8!

The countdown announcer got caught up, too.
He completely choked on 10-9-8-7-and 6. :)

That gave me a serious WTF? moment.  The clock is moving, but where's the countdown?

I don't care what anyone says.  SpaceX launches are never boring to me.
Nominal now means "Yeehah!!"

Thanks to Steven and the two Chrises (Chrisia? Chrisium?) for the excellent coverage as always.
Congratulations to SpaceX on this astounding pace.
Commiserations to Pad  X.

I can't believe we have to wait a whole 35 days now for the next one..
**from updates thread**

I believe it's "Christicles".  XD

From another thread:

Wait, why is there a discussion of Shuttle tiles in a thread about SpaceX and it's competition?

The same reason that SpaceX shows up in a discussion of a ham sandwich on these fora?   :D

Well, that's not completely preposterous.  Of course, it was a corned beef sandwich on Gemini 3, but given a half century of progress in lunch vehicles, shouldn't SpaceX be able to develop a space-rated ham sandwich to replace the crummy old space lunch vehicles?

Leo has come by to watch the launch with me. :-)

Cool name for a cat!  8)

Leo was found in a pipe at my brothers worksite with some other kittens. With his tortoise shell colour and his "underground" origin, I named him Leonardo after one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! The other kittens found good homes elsewhere.
I say we nominate "Lucky Leo" (lucky to have Steven as his dad) and getting us a "GO" for launch, the Official SpaceX Mascot!! :) How say we all?? We already have one "tough vote" in...

Was it just my ears or did the announcer John create a new word "Norminal"?

I think it was regarding the orbit resulting from the second burn of S2

So, in the picture above of Steve's cat most people would say, "Oooh... nice cat!" I looked at it and said "Geez Steve! A CRT monitor and a corded telephone? This technological Neanderthal is being trusted to bring us live coverage of our precious SpaceX launches?? Surely you can't be serious..."   :)

Unless it is on fire it is a software problem.
In this case it was a software problem that kept it from being on fire.

I put that down to superstition, rather than choking. "I've said T-10 twice, and it's aborted twice. Not doing it again."
When I say "Jump!", you say "To which orbital inclination?"

Okay... to mollify the superstitious we here in the party thread hereby declare that the 'T-10' call shall be replaced by:

Hey! Ho! Let's Go!

T 10
Teen Titan

eh... oh well, wasn't that funny anyway...  :-[  ;)

I think the new grid fins are frakked about being left off the Intelsat35e flight.

Now they've gone all Cyberdyne Systems on us.

I think they're not actually titanium at all,  but really a mimetic polyalloy. Liquid metal. :)

Doesn't that stuff have a much lower melting point than titanium?  :-\

Well there is evidence that that stuff doesn't handle cryogenic temps very well. Tends to fracture and shatter under big shocks and impacts. Granted it has some self-healing capabilities once it warms up, but it doesn't seem like something that would work well in rocket launches.

Does a human-rated sandwich have 25% (40% for SpaceX!) more meat?  ::)
