Nomination for FH demo "silly" payload. A surfboard to be released into LEO and then re-enter. In honour of John Carpenter's greatest film.

I was a projectionist in college and Dark Star and Silent running were regularly shown films (at least 2 times per year!).

a cult classic!  "Benson Arizona, the stars are in the Sky..."

bomb number twenty...  is armed and won't release!

teach it phenomenology.

You're spoiling the movie if you show us the ending of "Dark Star".

Mike Wagner just tweeted: SES 10 Ready for move. SpaceX crew gets faster, more efficient with each  (in this case used) booster

Has anybody made note of recovery times (delegging, horizontalizing) for each returned booster?

Funny you should ask. Reddit user theinternetftw put this wiki together today.

I've lost track of the launches - which is the next one from KSC?! Either ULA or SpaceX?

SpaceX 16th  (NROL-76, booster already at cape)
ULA 18th  (Cygnus to ISS)

all obviously NET, dates may change until the rocket is off the pad.
These are pedant fora.  ULA doesn't launch from KSC

Well... Granted I meant the Cape Canaveral launch range, which KSC is very nearby to.

You're spoiling the movie if you show us the ending of "Dark Star".

If you are going to watch one John Carpenter film, I suggest They Live! Still relevant today although most certainly not on topic.

I think it's important to try to stay close to the topic. You get to hear a much better whooshing noise as everybodys points fly right past it.

The booster from Iridium flight 1 might top them all - launch from both coasts.

A Dickensian tale of an itinerant rocket booster, forced to travel where the work takes it. It has to brave inhuman working conditions, blackened and exhausted after each mission. Paired with a different child 2nd stage each time, who is cruelly sacrificed to the unforgiving needs of their master. It dreams of one day being put out to pasture when it's served its usefulness, but too many others of its kind are humiliatingly shorn of their appendages to be consumed in a final suicide mission.

Historic indeed  :)

Yes, though I am also partial to Ghosts of Mars.  It had reavers before Firefly.

With Falcon Heavy now capable of carrying over 68 metric tons to LEO, that puts an engineless Space Shuttle orbiter within the payload range.

I think we found the demo payload.  8)

There is no possible reason this should not work.  It fits Elon's philosophy, now even the payload is reusable ;)

There is no possible reason this should not work.

The vibrations caused by mass hysterical laughter/vomiting will upset the balance of that launch stack.
