CRS-13: A used booster launching a used spacecraft. That really is astounding, but it's about to be outdone by FH: Two used boosters launching a used car to Mars.

I do hope that Elon knows someone with some clout at Tesla so he can replace the car with a new one fairly soon.

Maybe Elon is waiting for the upgraded model after the introductory Roadster 2  base model. So he can coined another speed greater than the current "Maximum Plaid mode". ;D

It should be "Beyond Plaid mode" IMHO along with another $50000 increase in MSRP.

Seeing a launch on NSF is fun.  Seeing it from the Banana River viewing area is amazing.  The having lunch after your launch by a Saturn V is priceless.
Nice Ron, is Shepard's Corvette still there?

I didn't see it, where is supposed to be?
It was to the right of the first stage by the main engines. Perhaps it's on display tour somewhere else... Looks like you had a great day just the same! Thanks for getting back to us Ron. :)

Edit to Add: Just checked and it's showing up on the Space Walk of Fame Museum in Titusville:

What the?  .....

Heavy breathing!

Have the strap-ons been mated to the core?
....  Strap-ons? Mating? Might be a different forum you're thinking of?

Take a look at the passenger foot well carpet of Alan Shepard's Corvette. Looks like the "Rocket Man" would like to scare the crap out of his passengers as they dug their heels in hanging on.... ;D

For now, we only use those on super hot reentry missions. Will go to all Ti with Falcon 9 V5, which is a few months away.

And, is V5 just a typo? Or do we have yet another Falcon versioning scheme?  ::)

Please NO....

It was not unusual for this effect to be caused by the exhaust heating the floor pan REALLY hot.

A very well respected scientist once noted superstitions work even if you don't believe in them. If so, I am a lil bit upset that the horseshoe on the emblem for the fourth Iridium launch has been hung upside down, allowing all of the luck to drain out.

It was not unusual for this effect to be caused by the exhaust heating the floor pan REALLY hot.

I drove a late 70's Oldsmobile (defunct GM division) station wagon for a while as a hand-me-down vehicle (dates me, huh?!).  The passenger side floor pan rusted through, without my knowledge, allowing the floor carpet to contact the exhaust pipe.

The carpeting started to smoke and smolder one day while I was driving on the local interstate.

I opened the car windows, pulled off, and stuffed all the towels and blankets in the car into the now-burnt hole in the floor.  I drove to a nearby relative's house, where we deployed a fire extinguisher on the burnt carpet edge.

Later, I trimmed the stinky, burned carpet out, and slipped a metal plate into place through the carpet hole to restore hull integrity.

You're telling me!! I have unwrapped exhaust header headers on my 71' and although it gets toasty down there my carpets look perfect. That sir are heels diggin' in... ;D The astronauts would hold "off the record races" around the the Cape on the deserted roads and private ones around Houston owned by oil companies... :o

(You can see where Shepard braced himself on the floor using his left foot during hard cornering) 8)

These engines don't have the new impellers. That means they  may not be as valuable (it would be a big teardown to retrofit I would think) as some might suspect.

So can we crowdfund a recovery effort and gift ChrisB with a used M1D for Christmas? 🎅🎄

I'm good for a fiver (or 5 Euros, or75,000 Indonesian Rupiah ... whatever it takes)

But I'm not sure his garden shed is big enough....
