Don't go there. You don't want to joke about people getting seriously sick.

Yeah, the wine cooler wannabe can have that effect the following morning....

1) If the earth is flat, how come cats haven't pushed everything off the edge yet?
Everything they've pushed off so far is being held underneath by gravity... That's probably where Flight 19 is... Give them time... ;D

So if the earth is flat, does that make time the 3rd dimension?

Flat earth string theory with only 10 dimensions :D

From the recent NAC HEO meeting thread:
https://www.nasa.gov/sites/default/files/atoms/files/nov_2017_nac_iss_status_and_transition_final.pdf

This presentation has probably the (unintentionally) funniest slide on a NASA presentation that I've ever seen.  Sam Scimemi, the presenter, is the NASA Director for the ISS, what the hell does he mean by telling the NAC HEO committee that "There are initial rumors...."?  Who is spreading these rumors?  Is it the JSC interns again?  I would expect someone of his age and experience would know better than to spread such gossip.

But, a bit more seriously, "rumors"?  Not discussions or thinking or beginning considerations, etc.?

Also there is a claim the F9 will "look" a bit different than you'd expect. Nothing dramatic, more amusing (and practicable), but I want to "see" it before blurting anything else in public. I'll see if SpaceX want to confirm/comment on it before we see the booster rollout.

Did they decide not to wash the booster this time? Saving some money right there.

Has to be.
Theother option woud be a differnt paintjob. But why?

Well, isn't it obvious.  They have engineers, so they know go-faster stripes don't show empirical improvements.  So, it must be that they've decided to use special superhydrophobic coatings on the LOX tank to draw snow angels and other holidayish scenes that will show up in the frost during prop load.

Seeing as this is the party thread, how about some fun, over-the-top speculation on what the first Falcon Heavy payload will be?

As an example of what I mean, take a look at this tweet from a twitter user;
https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/936782477502246912

"Payload will be my midnight cherry Tesla Roadster playing Space Oddity. Destination is Mars orbit. Will be in deep space for a billion years or so if it doesn’t blow up on ascent."

Oh. The heavy party thread titles jump off the page

“Baby won’t you drive my car ...to Mars” FH Demo

“On the Road Again“ FH Mars Roadster Demo

Zero to Mach 20 FH Mars Roadster Demo

It's legit!  From a SpaceXer:  https://twitter.com/RocketJoy/status/936786839268032513

ROAD TRIP!

The best thing about this, outside of its pure awesomeness, is imagining the reviewer's reaction when SpaceX applied for their FAA launch license with the payload listed as a car.  Like, "WTF, SpaceX?  You guys are a bit wacky sometimes, but come on.  What am I supposed to do with this?"  I wonder how long it took them to persuade the reviewer they were serious.

Elon should ceremoniously open the fairing with an old school garage door opener.

Oh, the payload will be "Ballast(*, with GoPro cameras and a comm link for video"

"*) Ballast shaped like a 2008 Tesla Roadster. Cherry red. With onboard sound system playing Space Oddity"

Rocket car again? This time the experiment is inadvertently supersized to ridiculous proportions. Surely we will have the answer to the billion dollar question once and for all: is this myth busted, plausible, or confirmed?

There's only a very small amount of places that can get answers from SpaceX because they have earned it with their coverage. This site and its reporters is one example.

;D I love this place. (The party thread seemed appropriate for such a sentiment.)
I'm just a space fan, please correct me if I'm wrong!

If the Roadster is confirmed, we need a thread about other things that ought to be included with it.
Fuzzy dice, like Dream Chaser and any good, fun car.

Can't wait to see, after multiple orbits around the sun, a Roadster falling off the sky in season 3 of The Expanse.
