OK, I can understand that Serta put in the low bid for fabricating the titanium grid fins, but, um... there needs to be some better corporate communications, here, about appropriate product testing... :D

The wife is angry husband didn't get MyPillow, her pillow is not machine warshable.
Man, this turned into yet another Party thread real quick.

With that much cold shoulder on show I think the cooling effect would make the swap to titanium unnecessary.

Oh, don't worry -- some time in the next minute and thirty-eight seconds or so, those people will have a lot more to worry about than whether or not any of their ensemble is machine-washable... :D

I might suggest this thread could more appropriately be appended to the party thread?  Just a thought, seems it would belong there.  :)

(*) -- I will never call out typos and misspellings, as I have enough of them myself.  But this is an exception.  You see, while I am originally from Illinois and was raised with that flat Midwest accent that is the envy of every news reader throughout the nation, my mother's family is from rural Indiana.  She and her family (and everyone from that region) sport a variation on the Kentucky-Tennessee southern accent.  It is distinctive in that, among other things, the word "wash" is invariably pronounced "warsh".  Also, as in a standard southern American dialect, the short "i" vowel sound is often pronounced more like a long "e", such that I would hear the phrase "warsh the deeshes" when one of my relatives meant to say "wash the dishes".  So, whenever I see someone write "warsh", I nearly fall out of my chair, laughing... :D  :D  :D

If I had photoshop skills I would put a scale mariachi band with Elon dancing at the base of a landed Falcon 9 (To keep on topic, of course)

This post is now hilarious after I merged the other thread into this thread. ;D

There have been so many photos looking up at the landed booster in front of SpaceX HQ at Hawthorne that sometimes we fail to apprehend the sheer size of the booster.  I made this graphic for the SpaceX Facebook group to help illustrate how big those grid fins are up at the top of the booster.  :D
Captions:

A).  Johnson, party of two ... your gridfin is available ...

B)    For weight and balance reasons, we are recruiting additional couples (for the other gridfins)

Or the obvious:

Her thoughts: "Why won't he talk to me?  Am I getting fat?  What's wrong with our relationship?  Have I lost him completely?  Is he thinking about someone else?  Is it OVER?"

His thoughts:  "Dang, this is a big freakin' booster!  I mean, look, TWO of us can fit on one of these grid fins!"

Falcon 9’s first stage is equipped with hypersonic grid fins which manipulate the direction of the stage’s lift during reentry. The fins are placed in an X-wing configuration and are stored on the ascent and deployed during reentry. While the fins are relatively small – they measure just 4 feet by 5 feet – they can roll, pitch, and yaw the 14-story stage up to 20 degrees in order to target a precision landing.

They're really small people! Just like the ones that they use for advertising airline seat spacing, roominess of sub-micro-compact car back seats, portion sizes at cheap restaurants, etc.

OK maybe not

I think the scale is actually reasonable.  It's not like they look comfortable.  And the more recent picture is very misleading about the length of the fins (they are longer than they are wide) due to the camera angle.

This is getting way too picky for a party thread, in my opinion.  BOO.

It's not a party thread unless you can debate how many Falcon Heavies can dance on the deck of an ASDS.

Also the pic with the people sleeping is of the new Ti fins which are larger than the Al ones in the other pic and for which dimensions were given. The Ti ones aren’t massively larger but they are larger.

Literally, everything in moderation...  ;)

Including moderation?

I find your intolerance of my tolerance of his moderation of moderation to be intolerable! And don't call me a hypocrite for pointing out the hypocrisy of you pointing out my other hypocrisy!

Hmmm, a drag race that includes a Tesla and takes place on the runway of VAFB.  That's completely on topic here, right?
