Perhaps an acquisition

Could be suits *and* an acquisition. Orbital Outfitters site is suspiciously gone into "maintenance" mode and even Google cache is cleaned up.

Trump redirecting all NASA $$$ towards SpaceX in order to colonize Mars and make America greater than ever before.

You meant "Make Mars Great Again"? :)

"Make Mars America"  ;D

Ran a poll on Twitter:

PS The announcement will be a new thread, obviously.

I voted the suits. But I find the timing to be not that great since it is right after Boeing's unveiling.

One French reporter is also speculating about the Outfitters website being down:

Actually, I think it's the other way around - Boeing has been getting a lot of press play on their unveiling of the suit David Clark made for them. We all have heard Elon's gripes about current suits having huge butts. Maybe he watched Stephen Colbert in Boeing's suit on Friday night making fun of the pressurized butt and said, "Let's show off our kick-ass-looking suit!" :-)

One French reporter is speculating the same thing as you:

http://www.numerama.com/tech/236235-elon-musk-pourrait-devoiler-les-combinaisons-spatiales-de-spacex-des-ce-soir.html

It cam up on reddit first: https://www.reddit.com/r/spacex/comments/5wdr7m/elon_on_twitter_spacex_announcement_tomorrow_at/de9epz0/

Edit: To clarify: The Reddit post is about the suspicious "maintenance" of http://orbitaloutfitters.com/, not the idea of a takeover by SpaceX.

You want to be inspired by things. You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great. That's what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. It's about believing in the future and believing the future will be better than the past. And I can't think of anything more exciting than being out there among the stars.

I tied to deduce something like this from the timing of the tweet: right after getting up on Sunday morning PST.

Suppose SpaceX announces that they are suspending launches until further notice because they've discovered a new potential failure mode?

NOT SERIOUS, OK everyone relax now.  ;)

One of the reddit comments is funny: "I hope that you don't become a judge". The oufitters website being down is, at best, circumstantial evidence at this point.

Not particularly likely, but an update on ITS development would be interesting. What exactly happened to the big tank? Have they fired the Raptor test engine again?

The big tank went out to sea to be tested again IIRC?

And came back to never be a tank again: http://imgur.com/a/bGHR6

I think this may fit the bill.  They'll have waited to talk about ITS development until flying again, we know they've got test results they might be reporting on about the oxy tank trial at sea, and now they've got two good flights under their belts.

So I'll go with ITS testing report / Raptor testing report news, perhaps even 2nd stage reusable Raptor-based development effort kickoff ...
From "The Rhetoric of Interstellar Flight", by Paul Gilster, March 10, 2011: We’ll build a future in space one dogged step at a time, and when asked how long humanity will struggle before reaching the stars, we’ll respond, “As long as it takes.”

What about an update on redesign work on the turbo pump cracking issue cited in the GAO report. Perhaps they have not gotten test results showing the issue has been dealt with and cracking is no longer an issue.

Even if it is the suits, he may make some comments about the other stuff since, he is the Elon and can do that.  Looking forward to the next rounds of speculation and intrigue AFTER his announcement.

IMHO not interesting enough to warrant an official SpaceX announcement.

The GAO report said it was fixed and passed initial life testing. Even if they finished testing this particular issue hardly seems worthy of a whole press conference.

Plus NASA would be involved since it's a NASA requirement.

Is this a new landing bingo? My guess is on a significant business deal announcement.
