So what would be the flight profile? Orbit? What puts them into TLI?
Probably FH launch to a low Earth orbit for Dragon checkout, then the FH upper stage restarts to put them through TLI. Upper stage separates after TLI burn, and Dragon+trunk is on it's own after that.

IT fits in with building a business case for going to Mars.
Remember, Musk says that going to Mars is to be "fun". Think of extreme sports.
So by doing this, yes, he takes space tourism to a new level, he increases the market cap, he demonstrates he owns the market, and has on the drawing board the end product.
Investors "get this". IT means he can finance ITS with significant global deep pockets.
Yes, a "big deal".
Which Trump might want in on.

I presume the two paying customers are going to be the only people aboard? No SpaceX provided pilot?

I'm a space cadet (not a troll) but someone put my mind at ease (with reason not sentiment) that this isn't just disgustingly decadent, but is an efficient (i.e. part of an incremental and sustainable) route to space settlement, please?
And might be good if the rationale is powerful enough to convince the much tougher (non space cadet) majority of the general public too.
