Any info if this will be a single mission, or a new service provided by spacex regularly?

"Other flight teams have also expressed strong interest and we expect more to follow."

(from the article linked above)

Exciting!

Got to be free return, right? No chance for orbit without developing a propulsion module of some kind, IIRC.

SpaceX beating Blue Origin on Space Tourism game?
From the announcement:
Other flight teams have also expressed strong interest and we expect more to follow
You want to be inspired by things. You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great. That's what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. It's about believing in the future and believing the future will be better than the past. And I can't think of anything more exciting than being out there among the stars.

Not surprising. Have been asked a lot recently about doing a lander out of Dragon.

Didn't the Russians advertise for this same mission using a two launch Soyuz and Bloc DM mission? I think FH could likely undercut that- from memory the Russian price was around $200m, and that was some years ago.

I wonder if this lunar Dragon flight puts the stake in the heart of "Space Adventures" lunar Soyuz tourist flight.

See this thread: "Space Adventures" has a customer for the lunar Soyuz!

NPR‏ @NPR

SpaceX founder Elon Musk says the mission will take approximately a week, and there will be no landing on the surface.

It wouldn't surprise if one of them isn't James Cameron.
or Maybe Richard Branson?
James Cameron is about to start the cameras rolling on the 'Avatar' sequels, so it's unlikely. I'd like it to be Tom Hanks, but I believe he's diabetic and would be going against Doctor's orders if he idd.

Agreed, but their super draco technology is a nice capability to have available.

I wouldn't want to be the first flight but if they establish space tourism as a revenue stream it strengthens their business and advances humanity toward easier access to space.

How exciting.
Starship, Vulcan and Ariane 6 have all reached orbit.  New Glenn, well we are waiting!

Can/should Dragon 2 do this without much modification? For example, do they carry a docking adapter to the Moon and back without ever using it?

So what would be the flight profile? Orbit? What puts them into TLI?

If someone is on the call, I would ask how does NASA feel about this mission? Are they concerned that it will interfere with commercial crew operations?

The answer should be "no" but it would be an interesting question to ask.

Would Hanks have the money for this?

How much does this put cold water on the idea of flying crew on EM-1?

I'd bet this significantly raises the odds that the Falcon Heavy test flight throws a Dragon around the moon.
