Flight-ready Dragon 2 capsule unveil / first flight announcement aboard a second-hand flight-proven F9. And here's a spacesuit, isn't it cool?

If it's a suit I do hope we'll see new (well, old but not used "new") features towards flexible mechanical counter pressure suits instead of good old but bulky pressure suits.

What about an update on redesign work on the turbo pump cracking issue cited in the GAO report. Perhaps they have not gotten test results showing the issue has been dealt with and cracking is no longer an issue.

The GAO report said it was fixed and passed initial life testing. Even if they finished testing this particular issue hardly seems worthy of a whole press conference.

Plus NASA would be involved since it's a NASA requirement.

Only one of the two types of cracking was fixed.  The other type of crack won't be dealt with until Block 5.

I find the web site outage to be smoking gun-ish, but I am hoping the announcement will regard Dragon 2, complete with video of drop tests of propulsive landings.

As it is wild speculation and fun, my wish:

Elon: everybody I've been talking to love the Unimog so I contacted my former Tesla patner Benz about doing some of their EQ-thing with it. We provide the batteries and... Mars rover problem solved. Now the funny thing on how to fit one in the ITS cargo bay, let me show you... and BTW, those are the spacesuits...

My fantasy announcement would be the reveal of the new Space Suit…BUT the twist ending is reveal of footage of a dummy dressed in the suit inside a Dragon 2 for high altitude drop test with propulsive landing.

Yeah...that would be awesome.

I'd be surprised if it's about the suits.  After all the attention Boeing's gotten from their new suits -- especially after the Colbert piece -- such an announcement would seem rather "me too" if it were the subject of such a major announcement.  SpaceX would be seen to be reacting to Boeing, not the other way around.  Bad mojo.

If I had to guess, I'd speculate on an announcement of the Falcon Heavy launch date and payload.

Having said that, Eric Berger's sources on SpaceX are better than mine, so who am I to doubt him?  And the Orbital Outfitters website would be a heck of a coincidence.  So it's probably the suits, as anti-climatic as that would be now.

We'll soon see.

Suits and a crew announcement would be worthy, I think.

If it is truly about the spacesuits, I'd be surprised if it was *only* about the spacesuits. Perhaps some updates about Dragon 2 crewed flights and/or the Falcon Heavy demo payload as well? And is Elon going to take questions? If so that may be very interesting to watch in and of itself, what kinds of answers he gives.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

I don't understand the thread title... "Pre-SpaceX"? "Pre" in what way?

Anyway, this is almost certainly about space suits, I would think. (no evidence to back that up, other than this thread)
For the record, I don't believe that's what I named this thread when I created it. Therefore I lay the title confusion squarely on the shoulders of the Mods...!

(I assume Chris renamed it because he's planning on starting a new thread post announcement. And he's a Brit, so there's no telling how he's likely to string his sentences together...)

For most of the above wishes, on a normal day, would be announced by Elon first posting a picture with an irreverent tagline, then actually making the announcement by replying to one of the comments 2 pages down on the discussion thread.

So either this is not a normal day, or it's something else, something subject to more corporate discipline. either SpaceX's, or someone else's.

Do we know if this is a (live) press conference? Where? Or Will be just blog/news post on SpaceX website and a video?

Chris any light on this questions?

Nobody seems to know. This tells me that it will not be a huge announcement. Likely just a press release and perhaps a video.
