Perhaps they have not gotten test results showing the issue has been dealt with and cracking is no longer an issue. The GAO report said it was fixed and passed initial life testing. Even if they finished testing this particular issue hardly seems worthy of a whole press conference. Plus NASA would be involved since it's a NASA requirement.

My fantasy announcement would be the reveal of the new Space Suit…BUT the twist ending is reveal of footage of a dummy dressed in the suit inside a Dragon 2 for high altitude drop test with propulsive landing. Yeah...that would be awesome.
I'd be surprised if it's about the suits. After all the attention Boeing's gotten from their new suits -- especially after the Colbert piece -- such an announcement would seem rather "me too" if it were the subject of such a major announcement. ... So it's probably the suits, as anti-climatic as that would be now.

I don't understand the thread title... "Pre-SpaceX"? "Pre" in what way?Anyway, this is almost certainly about space suits, I would think. (no evidence to back that up, other than this thread)
Do we know if this is a (live) press conference? Where? Or Will be just blog/news post on SpaceX website and a video? Chris any light on this questions?
