Preparations for the launch of a space launch vehicle from Vostochny have been started at the cosmodrome site. Launch of Soyuz-2.1a with the Russian satellites Kanopus-V nº5 and 6 is planned for December 27th.
UWE-4 is to be exposed in about 585 kilometers altitude. Also on board are the Earth observation satellites Kanopus V 5 & 6 (Russia), Samson 1, 2, 3 (from the Technion in Haifa in Israel) and 12 Dove Nano satellites (from the US company Planet).
"The Soyuz-2.1a rocket carrier with the Fregat upper stage will have to put into orbit two Russian Canopus-V satellites 5 and 6, as well as 26 foreign small spacecraft," the agency’s source said.According to him, 20 American, three German and one Japanese, Spanish and South African satellite will depart along with Canopus.

Three Israeli and one Finnish satellites are not ready to launch from the Vostochny cosmodrome on December 27, they were replaced with detachable layouts, a source in the rocket and space industry told RIA Novosti on Wednesday."Three Israeli technological satellites SAMSON and the Finnish Earth Remote Sensing Apparatus ICEYE did not keep up with the launch of the Soyuz 2.1a launch vehicle with the Fregat booster block, so they were replaced by mock-ups," the agency’s source said.
