They're likely not pictures from NASA's PAO photographer.
(Doesn't mean they're not great pic's - they are!)

FOD = Foreign Object Debris(bad stuff for flight hardware)
On STS-109 a small piece of FOD in one of the Freon-22 cooling loops almost caused the mission to be aborted.

A piece of FOD downed the last flight of the Concorde.
On aircraft carriers they regularly do a FOD walk to clear any FOD on the deck.

Great pics... looking at this one"
http://www.pbase.com/rod_ostoski/image/64501122I was wondering if anyone had a pic of the crawler-ways once the stack had rolled over the stones twice. Then stones must be fine dust.. this leads me to the question is who maintains and how often are the stones replaced?

FYI... You can copy the image out of the PDF files with the Adobe Viewer.. I'm sure not at the same quality as the original but good enough that I've got a new desktop photo

I tired importing the pdf into photoshop and saving as a jpeg, quality on it tanked, maybe half resolution afterwards. Needless to say I deleted all the ones I tried

So, what is FOD Prevention, and why is it everyone's business?
A piece of FOD downed the last flight of the Concorde.
On aircraft carriers they regularly do a FOD walk to clear any FOD on the deck.
They do the same walk down the SLF at KSC the day before landing.
I was at an airshow a few years back when the Eurofighter Typhoon suffered an engine problem before take due to a bag carlessly abandoned by someone at the show being sucked into the engine intake. It meant the Eurofighter display was cancelled because of the damage sustained.
