Higher doses of radiation in space is something we have to pay careful attention to since it increases your risk for cancer. Interestingly though, when you compare the cancer numbers in the astronaut population to the general public, there isn't a significant difference.

The spacesuits we use today are super complicated and not designed to live in orbit. The next generation of EVA suits will need to be less delicate and have the ability to be repaired and spend the majority of their days in-orbit.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. She began her reign at the dawn of the space age (1952) and remained a steadfast presence until the end of her long life, which spanned decades of tremendous change. Rest in peace.

The difficulty in being selected as a govt astronaut is still very high, but now there are other ways to get to space. One is to be very successful in professional life & have the required means; but you can also be a researcher working for a private company/public institution.

Can we maybe keep this thread about Axiom, rather than mindless spam of anything on their twitter feed? Labor day, Queen Elizabeth, and leadership changes at the FAA are blatant examples of things that are completely irrelevant. Only one of those is truly relevant anywhere on this forum, let alone this thread. Just like Musk tweets about Tesla don't belong in any SpaceX thread.

Even some of the tweets quoted here that are about Axiom really are a waste of space, generic statements about space radiation aren't news, and tellingly not a single one of these tweets is prompting even a single sentence of discussion even from the original poster. Leadership changes at Axiom, a contract award or signing an MOU are actually news at least.
