Do any parts of Soyuz actually go far enough downrange to impact the ocean? Which coast of Mexico is this on (I'm assuming that's where you found it, given that's your listed location)? If it's the west coast, it's likely a rocket that launched southward from Vandenberg, which would mean perhaps an Atlas V, Delta IV, or Falcon 9. If the east coast, I'm not sure. It could be Soyuz if it's on the east coast, actually, from an ESA-launched Soyuz out of Kourou, but that would be quite a journey for it to end up in Mexico.

Hmm...chances are that this is part of a fairing from a CSG Soyuz launch. In fact from the serial number provided it looks like it's from this one.

Definitely is from an ST version. I gave it to Stan to hunt down the confirmation as its shown as originally ordered for a non ST CSG launch but later shipped to CSG.

So, how would a fairing from a rocket launched from Kourou end up on a beach in Mexico?

Check out a map of ocean currents and you can see right away how a Soyuz fairing could get to the coast of Mexico after a launch from Kourou. It's easier than I thought.

the fairing is by international space law the sole property of the nation that manufactured it, in this case it was made in Russia and launched by the Russian team at CSG.

Hi,

yes it's for sure the VS13/FOC-M4,
the pictures you send correspond to the codes.

The code is N G15000-023

Ok It's russian, is there any prize to give it back to Russia?

PM Jester above and he should be able to get you in touch with someone or tell you what you need to do. In terms of if there is a prize I'm not aware of any prizes/payout unless you were injured by the hardware. It is international law that you notify your government and law enforcement and give them the location so they can hand it over to Russia. Your authorities might be able to tell you if you are eligible for a payout since it washed up on the Mexican shoreline.

The fairings of Soyuz launched form France Guiana are made in Europe if I'm not mistaken.
Ariane space reports it is derived from Ariane 4, here (click on + at the top of the fairing)

I think Arianespace is responsible for cleaning it up, they launched it.

@Jester, were those images snapshots from an esa video?
In this one are some nice shots of the fairing:

And this one shows fairings ...22.

so why does fairings ship from RKTs Progresses factory where its other fairings are made?? I only recall the 81KC and 220KC fairings have only RUAG Ariane 4 design heritage and Russia has license to manufacture these fairing.

AFAIK the fairing is russian, RUAG are involved in our launches because they are responsible for our dispenser

also the RUAG team takes care of part of the fairing work as a sub-co to Arianespace (together with the russians)

I'm currently waiting a reply as what to do with the fairing piece.

Maybe we are seeing the world's first reusable fairing.
