Stacking F1 stages.

I am almost completely sure this is a stupid question.
If you knock off 8 of the 9 engines, partially fill the top stage tanks, can the top stage get to orbit with meaningful payload?

Isn't what you're describing simply a stretched upper stage (assuming you also add a vacuum nozzle)

I think at some point a FH can use a stretch U/S, but I don't think it will be THAT stretched.
