Revell 1/144 ISS Model - 2011 Configuration
«
on:

Earlier this year I got the reissued Revell 1/144th ISS and have worked with it off and on for the last 6 months. I built an ISS model in 2002 in the Phase I configuration but it broke. Now I've decided to build one in its 2011 configuration during the last shuttle missions as I'd like to dock a shuttle to it. Here are some progress shots.

I've now gotten the main Russian segment modules painted, as of this week.

Looking good so far. Realspace models sells some great updates, including modules and trusses for the solar arrays.

Thank you. I actually got the Real Space set a while back but lost it and don't know where it is. There was no way I would have been able to do the surgery needed on the main modules to fit them with the Revell kit though I could maybe use the Quest airlock and PMA's.

Just finished painting the main "backbone" segment of ISS (Unity/Destiny/RS).

It is, but I worked it onto my Revell kit. I just drilled the modules and used some brass tube to connect the parts.

I'm afraid my TRL level of resin work still isn't high. My Real Space Vostok broke and bit the dust.
Anyway today I got paneling done on Zarya and worked on a few other things, like priming modules and installing panels on the truss to cover some open framework.

Tonight I did a test fit of the ISS components. It's "dry fit" together, will take it apart later to do detail work on the various modules before the final gluing of the truss and the Destiny module. I also posed the truss next to the Airfix Saturn V in the same scale.

Thank you Roma! I've made progress on the Quest Airlock and the Rassvet which I fashioned from parts of 2 kits. The Rassvet isn't 100% perfect or accurate but the best I could do.

A bonus shot of the Dragon 1/144 shuttle in assembly. I'm hoping to dock it or a Revell shuttle to ISS.

Got all the solar panels painted today. Now the major painting is done before it gets cold. I did another dry fit with all but one module as well.

Thank you Ronpur. The Progress will go on later, and this was another "dry fit". Will need to get little details on the core modules before I'm ready to glue them to the truss.

Thank you Ronpur. Now I need to figure out how to dock a Revell 1/144 shuttle to it. Fortunately I have one I started a few years back that has the IMR ODS from their ISS kit. (Yes I got that too).

Thank you Ronpur, that looks very nice. I'm afraid my Photoshop TRL is something like 1 or 2 at the moment, but it's good to see my ISS in orbit.

You're welcome. I guess I should specify, I use Gimp to do my photos, and not Photoshop, but it sounds weird to say I "gimped" your model into orbit!
