Glencoe Models' Thor at White Sands

I just received the Glencoe re-release of the really old Adams kit of the Thor rocket. This kit has not been released since 1958! And it is really awesome to have it.
It is HO scale, or 1/87th scale. If I still had my train set, I would have loved to put it on my Plasticville town set up, right next to the coal mine.
The kit is mainly the launch pad, and it builds up into a nice looking launch table. I am still looking through all of Ed Kyle's Thor thread to see if it is even accurate. Nothing so far.

Here is a few photos of assembly of the launch table. It builds up looking very cool. I have no idea of how accurate it is. The fit is pretty amazing for a kit this old.

I then added the detail to the deck. Searchlights, a crane, a sink and spray nozzles.

The Thor, itself is a pretty big model. Two big parts, with separate fins and engine. There are two nosecones. The rounded one and another, tapered one, with a hole on top. This was to be used when you bought the Adams Vanguard kit. You could use the upperstage of the Vanguard to model a "Pioneer" moonshot launcher. It would actually look more like a Thor-Delta instead of the Thor-Able used for Pioneer 1. Glencoe is going to release the Adams Vanguard as well. So, I will need another Thor! LOL
Painting is next.
