Congrats @SpaceX on landing Falcon's suborbital booster stage. Welcome to the club!

I LOL'd.

I second that LOL....
Yeah, I see "good nature'd ribbing" at the most.

I'm sure we're going to see the media play this as a bit "rivalry of billionaires" thing, like Vanderbuilts with racing yachts, but in reality I think that, as competitive as both guys are, there's a lot less "competition" going on than all that.

Colman:  "Yeah and man I remember on this forum all the detractors and naysaygers like that night gator guy, hey Jim how does it feel to go from one end of the spectrum where you thought this was impossible to witnessing history? Elon Musk really is a magician eh?"

Yeah, Jim's gruffness can wear thin at times.

But let's not forget that Elon "the magician," whom I admire and appreciate very much, stands now proudly on nearly 60 years of foundational work--of which the Night Gator has been part.  As marvelous as this achievement is, how does it compare with the work of the Atlas, Titan and Saturn people, who invented much of this from scratch.

Oops...even von Braun built on Goddard and others.

I suspect Jim is smiling right now, anyway.  Who wouldn't be?

Bezos wouldn't, I suspect.

Big congrats to Musk and his team. And also to Orbcomm, Air Force and the FAA who had the balls to give the go ahead for this. Fantastic and wonderful moment.

It's 230 am here. Think I need a beer.

So, I know it's the tiny detail lost in the glare of the evening's events, but are we gonna hear about the S2 relight or what?  Since SpaceX went with the Orbcomm mission over the SES mission to allow the test to take place in a way that would not break the mission if it failed, it's kinda important.

The webcast is really dumbed down compared to previous ones. They seem to be aiming for a different audience today.

I think they had enough foresight to believe that they were putting history in the can and that this would show over and over again to a wider audience.  Hopefully maybe in some elementary schools where some new engineers will be conceived.

Is there a rocket involved in all of this somewhere?  They even missed the retract.

True, I too would have been happier with more.  But from another perspective this a team congratulation video.  And we also got some extra coverage that we've never had before, we could hear the cheering and the relative volume levels of the cheering at the various events, both S2 and S1.  And we got the double sided timeline and live landing coverage.

SpaceX launch team confirms a good deorbit burn of the Falcon 9 2nd stage, key test before future launches.

So we are 100% successful on all mission objectives.  Time for that Bourbon!

If this is a bingo game I'm feeling good in taking that part of the "X" where the two legs intersect.  We'll see.
