Assembling NEX0 1 - Episode 1 - 2015-07-08
Published on Jul 9, 2015
Parts have started to arrive for the first two Nexø rockets. The first major shipment consists of the lasercut aluminium plate parts for the rocket body.
The next job is to prepare the lasercut parts for assembly. Holes has to be tapped to accept bolts, the plates that are to form the outer shields of the rocket has to be rolled into the correct diameter, bar stock has to be milled etc.
The work is performed by members of Copenhagen Suborbitals according to detailed drawings made in Solidworks by our rocket design group.
This video is the first in a series that follows the assembly of the first two rockets in Nexø class.
The first launch of a Nexø class rocket is scheduled for late summer 2015. The launch will take place at sea in the Baltic Sea east of the island Bornholm.
The Nexø class are named after the city Nexø on Bornholm, that Copenhagen Suborbitals use as a staging area for our launches at sea.
The Nexø rocket will be powered by the BPM-5 engine, a LOX/ethanol rocket engine developed, built and tested by Copenhagen Suborbitals during 2014 & 2015.

Rocket launch coming up!
We have booked the
last two weekends of August (2015) and the first two weekends of September as our launch window for the Nexø I rocket. Once ready, and the weather forecast is okay, we'll launch. Typically we launch early in the day, CEST, and our activity will be broadcast live on our youtube channel

Copsub posted this to twitter 3 days ago. The rumour is the launch will be in the first week of September. The technology in this rocket has been very satisfying to see in development, I wish them well with the preparations.

Launched the rocket? I think no.
Not yet. According to
their blog, Sputnik (the launch platform) is docked at Hasle on Bornhold due to bad weather. They expect to continue next week and still aim for a launch around September 19th-20th.
As for the video, the sticker at 20:20 made me laugh.

Unfortunately, we didn't manage to launch the Nexø I rocket before the temperature of the Baltic Sea became too low and closed our 2015 launch window.

For the second time we parcitipate in Science in Forum, the science and technology event surrounding the annual science talent competition for danish middle school and highschool students.
This year we will try to have fun building real rockets for and with the kids, and launch the rockets inside the venue.
Watch the video to find out how.

Second Cold Flow test on Nexø1 (in 2016)Copenhagen Suborbitals
Published on Jun 13, 2016
This video is from the second cold flow test done on the 11 of June 2016 in front of the workshop. A second test was needed to test the repairs and small changes made based on what we discovered during the first test. Several valves and seals were changed, and most was fixed. A couple of minor things still need adjusting before launch.
The cold flow test is done with liquid nitrogen instead of the LOX. Nitrogen being inert is the perfect replacement and makes it save to troubleshoot while being close to the rocket.
