MOSCOW, December 24. /TASS/. A Soyuz 2.1b carrier rocket with the Fregat booster and British OneWeb communications satellites has been installed on the launch pad of site No. 31 (Vostok) at the Baikonur spaceport, Russia’s State Space Corporation Roscosmos reported on Friday.

"The Soyuz-2.1b rocket with the Fregat booster and OneWeb satellites aboard has been installed on the launch pad of site No. 31," the statement says.

As Roscosmos specified, specialists will now integrate service platforms and start work under the schedule of the first launch day.

The launch of the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with the Fregat booster is scheduled for December 27 to deliver 36 British OneWeb satellites into orbit. The launch will increase the OneWeb orbital cluster to 394 satellites.

The launch program is being implemented under a contract between Glavkosmos (a subsidiary of Roscosmos), Arianespace (the European launch operator for OneWeb satellites) and Starsem.

British OneWeb low-orbit satellites are designed to create a space-based communications system to provide high-speed Internet access in any locality worldwide.

On Saturday, December 25, 2021, the joint settlement of subsidiaries of the State Corporation Roscosmos began work on the schedule of the second launch day as part of the OneWeb mission No. 37. In the morning, the heads of enterprises producing space technology, representatives of the management of the State Corporation Roscosmos, companies Glavkosmos and OneWeb.

The day before, the Soyuz-2.1b / Fregat / OneWeb space rocket was transported to the launch complex of site No. 31 of the Baikonur cosmodrome. The specialists of the Roscosmos enterprises carried out the work according to the schedule of the first launch day. Today, the active phase of preparation for the launch, which is scheduled for Monday, continues.

At the Vostok launch complex of the site No. 31 it is planned to carry out a control set for the launch readiness of the Fregat upper stage, as well as work in the Technological pre-launching mode. In the second half of the day, general tests will take place, during which the launch and flight of the launch vehicle will be simulated until the separation of the orbital block, then the analysis of telemetric information will be carried out.

Upper stage "Fregat" produced by the Scientific and Production Association named after S.А. Lavochkin (part of the State Corporation "Roscosmos") ensures the effective implementation of all tasks to launch one or more spacecraft into working orbits or trajectories departing from the Earth. The entire launching process is carried out autonomously, without interference from the Earth. The highest reliability, the possibility of launching from four cosmodromes and, practically, the ideal launching accuracy, give the upper stage an undeniable competitive advantage over world analogues.

The basis of the structural layout of the upper stage is a block of tanks, built according to a monoblock carrier scheme. It has a torispherical configuration, consisting of six spherical containers welded together, separated by spherical bottoms. Four of them are oxidizer and fuel tanks, two of them are compartments for on-board instruments and equipment.

MOSCOW, December 26. / TASS /. The first launch of the British OneWeb communications satellites in 2022 scheduled for February from the Guiana Space Center (Kourou spaceport), CEO of Glavkosmos (a part of the Roscosmos space agency) Dmitry Loskutov told TASS on Sunday.

"The first launch of the OneWeb [satellites] is scheduled for February 2022 and planned to be carried out from the Guiana Space Center," Glavkosmos CEO said.

According to Loskutov, as many as seven launches of the OneWeb satellites are planned for 2022.

The nearest launch of the Soyuz-2.1b rocket carrying the Fregat upper stage and some 36 OneWeb satellites is scheduled for December 27 from the Baikonur spaceport.

The work is proceeding under a contract between Glavkosmos, the European satellite launch company Arianespace and the French-Russian company Starsem.

British OneWeb satellites are designed to create a space-based communications system to provide high-speed Internet access in any locality worldwide.
