In the assembly and test building of the Vostochny cosmodrome, specialists of the subsidiaries of the State Corporation Roscosmos - the Vostochny Space Center (a branch of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities) and the Progress Rocket and Space Center - completed the general assembly of the Soyuz- 2.1b / Frigate / OneWeb as part of the launch mission number 49.

In accordance with the work schedule, the spacecraft (upper stage "Fregat" and 36 OneWeb spacecraft under the fairing) and the third stage with the "package" (first and second stages) of the carrier were docked. At the end of the docking, the electrical connections were assembled and the pipelines for temperature control were installed. Tomorrow, on October 9, a meeting of the State Commission is planned on the readiness to transport the rocket to the launch complex, now it is installed on the transport and installation unit.

The launch of the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with the Fregat upper stage and a new batch of 36 OneWeb spacecraft is scheduled for October 14, 2021 and will become the sixth commercial launch from the Vostochny cosmodrome. The launch will take place as part of the contracts between Glavkosmos (a subsidiary of the Roscosmos State Corporation) with the European launch services provider Arianespace (operator of OneWeb spacecraft launches using the Soyuz-2 launch vehicle) and Starsem.

This will be the sixth fully commercial launch from the Russian Vostochny cosmodrome, implemented under contracts between Glavkosmos (part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) with the European launch services provider Arianespace (operator of OneWeb spacecraft launches using the Soyuz-2 launch vehicle) and Starsem for OneWeb from the Russian cosmodrome. In accordance with the decision of the State Commission on October 11, 2021, the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle with the Fregat upper stage and 36 new OneWeb spacecraft were taken from the technical facility to the launch complex of the Vostochny cosmodrome and installed in the launch system. Its launch is scheduled for October 14, 2021 at 12:40 Moscow time.

Today at 01:00 Moscow time (07:00 local time), the transportation of the Soyuz-2.1b / Fregat / OneWeb space rocket to the launch site began. At the same time, the calculation of the specialists of the State Corporation "Roscosmos" began work on the preparation of the infrastructure of the launch equipment. Later, the rocket was installed in the launch system and the mobile service tower was run over.

This structure allows for the preparation for the launch of the launch vehicle in the most difficult climatic conditions. The service tower is 52 m high, weighs 1600 tons and consists of seven tiers. The use of this tower makes it possible to significantly increase the safety of personnel when preparing the launch vehicle for launch.

Within the framework of the first launch day, it is planned to assemble the measurement system diagrams, the control system and the filling level measurement system, the docking of filling and pneumatic communications. Then - autonomous checks of the Fregat upper stage produced by the S.А. Lavochkin and the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle manufactured by the Progress Rocket and Space Center (both enterprises are part of the Roscosmos State Corporation).

Internet access via the OneWeb satellite system will be provided through 40 ground-based terminal stations that will be deployed on the surface of the Earth. The OneWeb terminals will be self-contained, self-sufficient and well protected from adverse environmental factors. Each of the terminals will be able to provide high-speed Internet access in its coverage area via Wi-Fi, LTE or 5G technologies. The licensed radio frequency range will be used or, where available, the publicly available Wi-Fi, LTE or 5G radio frequency range.

The day before, the Soyuz-2.1b / Fregat / space rocket was removed OneWeb on the Soyuz launch site and then a run over of a mobile service tower.

On Tuesday, preparations for the launch, which is scheduled for October 14, are actively continuing. At 02:00 Moscow time (08:00 local time), the cosmodrome specialists took their jobs and began checking the initial state. At the moment, the "Calibration" mode has been carried out, control of the initial state and charge of spacecraft batteries has been carried out, as well as a control set for the launch readiness of the upper stage "Fregat", developed by the S.А. Lavochkin (part of the Roscosmos State Corporation).

In the afternoon, complex and then general tests will take place, within the framework of which the flight of the launch vehicle is simulated to the separation of the head unit in the target orbit. At the next stage of preparation, the analysis of telemetric information and the final operations at the launch complex are carried out.

A stationary refueling system and an automated control system for technological equipment are equipped at the Soyuz-2 launch site at the Vostochny cosmodrome. For the first time in the history of Russian cosmonautics, a mobile service tower with a weight of 1,600 tons and a height of 52 meters is being used. With its help, work is carried out to prepare for the start in the most difficult climatic conditions. The lead developer of the launch complex is the V.P. Barmina (a branch of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities, part of Roskosmos).
