Specialists from subsidiaries of the State Corporation Roscosmos - the Vostochny Space Center (a branch of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities) and the S.А. Lavochkin Institute successfully completed the operation of refueling the upper stage "Fregat" with propellants and compressed gases.

The upper stage was transported from the hall of the refueling and neutralization station to the assembly and testing building of spacecraft for preparation for assembly of the Soyuz-2.1b space rocket.

The Fregat upper stage is intended for the 49th mission under a contract with the foreign customer OneWeb from the Vostochny cosmodrome. The launch of the next batch of 36 OneWeb spacecraft will be the sixth fully commercial launch from Vostochny.

The universal upper stage "Fregat" was created at NPO Lavochkin and is intended for use as part of medium and heavy launch vehicles in order to launch spacecraft into various specified orbits.

The base "Fregat" laid the foundation for a whole family of highly efficient booster blocks, which are created and created on its basis. The use of additional fuel tanks and a dumped block of tanks (“Fregat-MT” and “Fregat-SB”) on the upper stage "Fregat" made it possible to significantly increase the mass of the refueled fuel and, thereby, to increase the efficiency of the upper stage.

At Vostochny, the assembly of the Soyuz-2.1b space rocket has been completed as part of the OneWeb mission No. 49. The fairing was rolled onto the head unit and electrical tests were carried out in the assembly and test building of the cosmodrome.

At present, the space warhead is fully prepared for transportation to the assembly and test building of the launch vehicle.

The carrier, in turn, has passed a full cycle of tests at the Technical Complex and is currently ready for general assembly of a space rocket. General assembly is the final operation before it is transported to the launch site.

Specialists of the Vostochny Space Center (a branch of the Center for Operation of Ground Space Infrastructure Facilities, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation), using a transfer gallery, transported the space warhead assembled the day before to the assembly and test building of launch vehicles. It includes the Fregat upper stage and spacecraft from the OneWeb satellite company installed on the transition farm.

In accordance with the comprehensive training schedule, a joint team of specialists carried out the docking of the warhead with the third stage of the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle in the assembly hall of the Vostochny cosmodrome. In the coming days, the general assembly of the space rocket will take place, which is the final operation before being transported to the launch complex.

The launch of the sixth batch of 36 OneWeb spacecraft from the Vostochny cosmodrome is scheduled for October 14, 2021. It will be the sixth fully commercial launch from the cosmodrome. The launch operator for OneWeb is the European launch services provider Arianespace together with Starsem under contracts with Glavkosmos (a subsidiary of Roskosmos).
