At the Baikonur cosmodrome, the preparation of the spacecraft continues under the OneWeb launch program. On Tuesday, September 7, 2021, a bundle of 34 OneWeb spacecraft, installed on the Fregat upper stage under the nose fairing, was reloaded from the workstation of the assembly and test building of site 112 to the railway unit and transported to site 31.

The work was carried out by specialists from the Yuzhny Space Center (a branch of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities) and the S.А. Lavochkin (part of the State Corporation "Roscosmos"). The next stage of preparation is the docking of the warhead with the third stage of the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle.

On September 9, 2021, specialists from the Yuzhny Space Center (a branch of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities) and a branch of the Progress Rocket and Space Center (both enterprises are part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) completed general assembly of the Soyuz-2.1b / Frigat / OneWeb space rocket as part of mission 36.

In accordance with the prelaunch work plan, the space warhead (the Russian upper stage "Fregat" and OneWeb vehicles under the fairing) was docked yesterday with the third stage of the Soyuz-2.1b rocket. Today, this assembly has been docked to the carrier "package" (consisting of the first and second stages). At the end of the operation, the electrical connections were assembled and the pipelines for temperature control were installed.

Currently, the space rocket Soyuz-2.1b / Fregat / OneWeb is installed on the transport and installation unit before being transported to the launch complex. There are currently no comments on the preparation of the component parts. On September 10, it is planned to hold a meeting of the State Commission on the readiness to transport the rocket to the launch complex.

Recall that the launch of the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle with the Fregat upper stage and 34 new OneWeb spacecraft is scheduled for September 14, 2021. It will take place as part of the contracts between Glavkosmos (a subsidiary of Roscosmos) and the European launch services provider Arianespace (operator of OneWeb spacecraft launches using the Soyuz-2 rocket) and Starsem.

OneWeb spacecraft are designed to create a space communications system that provides high-speed Internet access anywhere on Earth. Internet access via the OneWeb satellite system will be provided through 40 ground-based terminal stations that will be deployed on the surface of the Earth. The OneWeb terminals will be self-contained, self-sufficient and well protected from adverse environmental factors.
