The head part of OneWeb is docked with the third stage of the Soyuz-2

06.24.2021 15:30

Specialists of the Vostochny Space Center (a branch of the Center for Operation of Ground Space Infrastructure Facilities, part of the Roscosmos State Corporation), using a transfer gallery, transported the space warhead assembled the day before to the assembly and test building of the launch vehicle. It includes the Fregat upper stage and spacecraft from the OneWeb satellite company installed on the transition farm.

In accordance with the comprehensive training schedule, a joint team of specialists performed the docking of the warhead with the third stage of the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle in the assembly hall of the Vostochny cosmodrome. In the coming days, the general assembly of the space rocket will take place, which is the final operation before being transported to the launch complex.

The launch of the fifth batch of 36 OneWeb spacecraft from the Vostochny cosmodrome is scheduled for July 1, 2021. It will be the fifth fully commercial launch from the cosmodrome. The launch operator for OneWeb is the European launch services provider Arianespace together with Starsem under contracts with Glavkosmos (a subsidiary of Roscosmos).

Completed assembly of the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle with the OneWeb spacecraft

06/25/2021 13:00

In the assembly and test building of the Vostochny cosmodrome, a joint crew of specialists from subsidiaries of the State Corporation Roscosmos - the Vostochny Space Center (a branch of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities) and the Progress Rocket and Space Center - completed the general assembly of the space rocket on June 25, 2021 Soyuz-2.1b / Frigate / OneWeb as part of mission 48.

In accordance with the pre-launch work schedule, the spacecraft (upper stage "Fregat" and OneWeb spacecraft under the fairing) and the third stage with the "package" (first and second stages) of the carrier were docked. At the end of the docking, the electrical connections were assembled and the pipelines for temperature control were installed. Currently, a space rocket is installed on a transport and installation unit before being transported to the launch complex.

The launch of the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with the Fregat upper stage and a batch of 36 OneWeb spacecraft is scheduled for July 1, 2021 and will become the fifth commercial from the Vostochny cosmodrome. The launch will take place as part of the contracts between Glavkosmos (a subsidiary of Roscosmos State Corporation) with the European launch services provider Arianespace (operator of OneWeb spacecraft launches using the Soyuz launch vehicle) and Starsem.

ILV "Soyuz-2.1b" is ready for removal at the Vostochny cosmodrome

06/26/2021 11:50

At the Vostochny cosmodrome, a meeting of the State Commission for conducting flight tests of spacecraft launch vehicles on readiness for transport to the launch complex and preparation for the launch of the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket under the OneWeb program (mission No. 48) was held.

Based on the results of the reports, the State Commission decided to remove the space rocket from the assembly and test building and install it in a vertical position at the launch site on June 28, 2021. The start of work on transportation to the launch complex is scheduled at 01:00 Moscow time (07:00 local time), after which the specialists of the State Corporation Roscosmos will begin work according to the schedule of the first launch day. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be active preparations for receiving a space rocket.

The launch of 36 OneWeb spacecraft is scheduled for July 1, 2021 at 15:48 Moscow time. This will be the fifth fully commercial launch from the Russian Vostochny cosmodrome, implemented under contracts between Glavkosmos (part of the Roscosmos State Corporation) with the European launch services provider Arianespace (operator of OneWeb spacecraft launches using the Soyuz launch vehicle) and Starsem for OneWeb from this cosmodrome.

Could #Blockchain be the answer to #sustainablefishing as consumers are able to track fish from ‘hook to plate’, reducing fraud, overfishing and ensuring supply chain accountability?

This cannot be achieved without low-latency, high-speed connectivity at sea to ensure the data is available at every step of the chain. At the end of the month, OneWeb will cover everywhere above 50 degrees latitude north with LEO satellites, connecting the most remote oceans.

BT and satellite operator OneWeb have signed a deal to explore ways to provide broadband internet to remote areas of the UK and to people at sea.

OneWeb, which is partly UK taxpayer-owned, has hundreds of satellites in low Earth orbit.

It is currently adding to its network, and said it should start to provide services later in the year.

OneWeb competes against providers such as Elon Musk's Starlink, which was recently granted a license to operate.

RKN Soyuz-2.1b / OneWeb removal took place on Vostochny

06/28/2021 04:45

Russian cosmodromes are actively preparing for the upcoming launches. So, in accordance with the decision of the State Commission on the morning of June 28, 2021, the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle with the Fregat upper stage and 36 spacecraft of the OneWeb satellite company was taken from the technical facility to the launch complex of the Vostochny cosmodrome and installed in the launch system. The launch is scheduled for July 1 at 15:48 Moscow time.

Today at 01:00 Moscow time (07:00 local time), the transportation of the space rocket to the launch complex began. At the same time, a joint crew of Roscosmos State Corporation specialists began work on the preparation of the launch equipment infrastructure. Later, the rocket was installed in the launch system and hit over the mobile service tower.

This structure allows for the preparation for the launch of the launch vehicle in the most difficult climatic conditions. The service tower is 52 m high, weighs 1600 tons and consists of seven tiers. The use of this tower makes it possible to significantly increase the safety of personnel while preparing the launch vehicle for the upcoming launch.

Within the framework of the first launch day, it is planned to assemble the measurement system diagrams, the control system and the filling level measurement system, the docking of filling and pneumatic communications. Then - autonomous checks of the Fregat upper stage produced by the S.А. Lavochkin and an hour later - the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle produced by the Progress Rocket and Space Center (both enterprises are part of the Roskosmos State Corporation perimeter).

The constellation of OneWeb satellites in low Earth orbit today has 218 spacecraft. The upcoming launch should bring the number of OneWeb satellites in orbit to 254. OneWeb LEO satellites are designed to provide high-speed Internet to terrestrial consumers.

With the upcoming launch allowing for above 50 degrees commercial usage, does this include all of canada and iif not, when will that happen?

It seems to me some very populus parts of canada seem to be to the other side of that line.

.@OneWeb, @SES_Networks disagree on OneWeb access to EU @defis_eu broadband connectivity project. But both say @SpaceXStarlink's market-access strategy threaten @ITU spectrum-priority regs & want EU to act.

Of course SES disagree that OneWeb should be involved in an EU backed broadband. The EU don't want competition from outside to take the profits and technology.

What's interesting is what they're both saying about SpaceX and starlink. What exactly is the problem with Starlink's market-access strat that threatens the ITU priority regs.

Also...1 Ku Band? is that for LEO, MEO and GEO or is it more sinister and saying no one else should get them!
