Looks like  a flight path diagram at the right side.

From a propaganda point-of-view, it would be interesting if Iran can put a man into orbit before the US manages to fly their next crew from US territory.

But, as with with the Indian human programme, what do the Iranians plan to do once they have someone in orbit?   Are there any long-term plans other than "a man in a can" for prestige?

First unmanned flight planned for next year ... unmanned flights will continue until the capsule proves its safety ... then ...

Which launch vehicle will that be expected to be on?  Wouldn't the real capsule be too heavy to launch on current launchers?

I think current safir without 2nd stage will be enough for a suborbital mission ...

Iran designing manned spacecraft able of returning astronomer to earth

http://isna.ir/en/news/93122615120/Iran-designing-manned-spacecraft-able-of

Quote
Design of the spacecraft includes three phases of conceptual design, preliminary design and detailed design, and the mock-up has been built based on the results of the first two phases. Iranian experts at Space Exploration Systems Research Center are conducting the third phase of the study.

The third phase includes building, assembling and testing flight models, launching operations and interpreting the results

Is my understanding correct that when the E1 spaceship is essentially the Iranian Mercury (without deorbit capability, that is), the SRISAT satellite shown with it is Iranian MS-1?

Please tell me that they didn't put the parachute compartment where the docking adapter should go.

Liss, I don't know what you are referring to by "SRISAT" and "MS-1".

As the capsule will not be used for docking, there is no docking adapter, just like in Mercury. That will probably come later if Iran builds a larger capsule.

SRISAT is a satellite unveiled on February 17 with the E1 spaceship according to the news item linked earlier ( http://isna.ir/fa/news/93112815744/مدل-فضاپیمای-سرنشین-دار-و-ماهواره-مخابراتی ). I cannot cope with Farsi easy enough to understand the details but my impression was that the SRISAT mission is to check the Iranian ground stations in the same way as Mercury Scout 1 was supposed to do for Project Mercury.

Probably it's this:

But it may be just a mockup of Nahid with deployable solar panel hinges visible.

apparently, nothing ....ever.

This reminds me of the Almaz capsule, which was not designed to dock with anything, but that constraint proved to be a real problem years later.

Thanks Liss. I didn't know about Mercury Scout 1 before, probably because it failed to achieve orbit. From that link, I learnt the following.

SRISAT stands for Space Research Institute Satellite.
Its a communications research satellite.
It can send and receive SMS messages to test ground stations and future satellites.
It will be launched by Safir 1.

There is also mention of SRISAT having made Nahid with GaAs solar panels of 30% efficiency.

It seems to me that SRISAT is for testing generic communication systems, not those solely applicable to E1.

SRISAT stands for Space Research Institute Satellite.
I'm not so sure even if the name suggests this. The Farsi Wikipedia entry on Space Research Institute says... damn, this forum seems to not support Farsi correctly so I'd put is as a picture below.

In the Farsi language report on E1 and SRISAT we can see the "green" name.

I'd add a quote from MEHR report on 18 Farvardin 1391 (April 6, 2012) which explicitly says that former ARI became ISRC:
