Elon Musk Feb 11
Planning a significant upgrade of the droneship for future missions to handle literally anything. Maybe give it a Merlin for good measure
Let's see... If a single M1D emits 650kN at liftoff, so about 150,000 pounds of thrust, and a barge weighs about 300 short tons @ 2000 pounds per, looks like four Merlins should do the trick. Of course this might start a new variation of the hover vs. hoverslam debate.

I'm happy to say that I was one of the first to slam that interview in the Yahoo comments section. Give Tariq some credit, he was trying to get in in perspective, but the host had his mind made up, and you can't just call the host a dumb___ on the air. Guy had a funny accent, too...
I'll go hide now.

So what would be the perfect beverage for this launch? This is a critical party question!

ABSinthe seems appropriate

Also if absinthe isn't your style an All-Electric Blue Lemonade is a perfect cocktail to bring you all the way to your highest orbit.

I have a bottle of absinthe, and the electric blue lemonade sounds good too, I think absinthe to start it off followed by a pitcher of the electric blue lemonade as it will take awhile for the electric thrusters to get in the proper orbit.
I might feel like a badly treated 1st stage the next morning though.

In the spirit of this thread, I present this video from Eutelsat:

BTW had this have launched 2 years ago, this thread title would be incorrect, because Eutelsat 115WB wasn't actually from Eutelsat at all! It was originally ordered by the big Mexican satellite operator Satmex as Satmex 7, until Satmex was brought out by Eutelsat and is now named Eutelsat Americas. Sistercraft Satmex 9 is now known as Eutelsat 117 West B and will launch with ABS-2A late this year. So.....

Removed the Fox Business piece as that's just crap and nothing to do with a party thread (or even this mission).

If only you had a Merlin 1D, you could melt that snow in no time. Might be a little blackened and scorched but totally clear. This could be a new untapped market.
