Shuttle ODS Dimensions anyone?
« on: 10/16/2014 02:55 pm »
Gentlemen ... a modeller on ARC forum is looking for dimensions for the Orbital Docking System

He asks " ... Does anybody have a resource for either dimensioned drawings of the Orbiter Docking System or even any of the dimensions of any of the components."

Any assistance would be most appreciated!
You can reply either here, or directly to him at this thread ...

This is from a document I found on NTRS:
"For Sardines, space is no problem!"
-1996 Astronaut class slogan

"We're rolling in the wrong direction but for the right reasons"
-USA engineer about the rollback of Discovery prior to the STS-114 Return To Flight mission

Thanx DaveS for the quick response!

But a typo was found, we think, on the dimensions chart you included and it was also supplied by a member on ARC.

Maybe some clarification or an explanation could be offered to us ...

The Dimensions 'B' and 'I' don't jibe. As 'I' 67.31" should fit into dimension 'B' 57.50" ... am I incorrect? One of those dimensions doesn't seem correct.

Thanx gents

I think the measurement "I" includes the hatch structure that sticks out from the main vertical airlock structure. Due to the low resolution of the drawings, that is not made clear.
