Rumor is the Dragon 2 is being prepped for display at the Newseum in downtown DC on Wed - source, a guy on reddit who saw it being delivered last night.

SpaceX confirms it will be on display at the Newseum, open to the public via twitter.

See if you can shed some light on whether the vehicle has real superdracos and associated plumbing installed? In general, I'm sure many people here would love some clarification as to exactly what on the vehicle is flight hardware, if you get a chance to ask the SpaceX folks.

And "will the walls stay bare shiny metal?"  This seems like a crazy thing to care about, but an unhealthy amount of discussion has revolved around this point.

Found this on reddit: "A friend of mine who has seen it in person confirmed that there are engines/thrusters onboard. The spacecraft is, in his words , 'basically done except for the interior and berthing mechanism'."

May well be, but it would be good to get some confirmation from the SpaceX people at the event tomorrow if possible.

Inconvenient for getting to TX. But a great stop to make a quiet political statement and get plenty of easy media attention. It's a well placed building in DC.

Anyone notice the iPhone pics that the top of the SC thruster-pods have little doors with attachments inside for lifting. Cool.

Yeah.  That's the only reason it makes sense to set up the Dragon v2 three blocks from the capitol for a day.

Note that the Newseum is almost exactly the same distance from the Capitol Building as the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.  Plus, as a new-ish museum (opened in 2008), they might be more accommodating when a certain space company phones up and asks permission to drop a capsule on their front lawn for a day.

FWIW, the Newseum is a few blocks closer to the Senate Office Building (and a few blocks further from the Rayburn House Office Building) than the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum.  So if I were really peering hard at tea leaves I might speculate that the Dragon was there for a specific senator or two.  (I suspect the real reason for selecting the Newseum is just event planning logistics.)

Also -- I wouldn't be surprised if there was an evening event planned for the VIPs after the 9-5 showing for the hoi polloi.

A close up photos of:
              - hatch door's latch (enough opening for space gloves to grip?)
              - hatch door's edges (type of seal?)
              - spacecraft's edge around the hatch door (double walls?)
              - strobe lights
              - any serial numbers tags on "flight ready" parts?

I'll try to be there as well. For those taking the Metro subway to get there, the closest stop is the Archives station on the Green line. It looks to be about 2 block walk from there to the Newseum.

It's not cheap. Newseum tickets are $22.95 plus tax.

Newseum hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm.

The reddit guy from the Newseum stated that there will be a separate line that won't require a Newseum ticket purchase but people will still have to go through a security line. 

I see the photo requests and will try to honor them if the opportunity presents.  Hopefully the capsule door will be open.   If this is a 'file by soviet funeral\ type deal, the opportunity may not present itself.
