Is this the complaint department? I want to register a complaint about the thread title.. I think I'll post a music vid to make my point.

Anyway, who here knew that Orbcomm was a spinoff of OSC prior to the merger? I missed that.
Here's hoping for lots of good space porn from this mission.

Prediction: they will attempt to land the first stage within a mile from land and actually land within a mile from the target, "inadvertently" making the first landing on terra firma.

And risking a
hooverslam in the process ? (In light of all what is going on

) Although, would be nice...

Er, the most outlandish suggestion contest is over

Edit: But you can still buy my LEGO sets:

personally I think they're going to aim further from the coast than people will 'like'. too much risk of pleasure boats flocking to the area to watch, then having to do some complex abort. my bet is they'll be at least ten or even twenty miles off the coast, to 'thin the herd' somewhat. and they'll probably issue a nice wide NOTAM area to disguise the landing spot somewhat.

There is a keep out zone for the launch. Seems plausible to use that for landing. It should be large enough for any safety concerns.

And there's something to be said for the Darwinian impacts on anyone who feels inclined to park a boat underneath an active rocket ....

ISTR reading that boats usually sail back into the keep out zone as soon as they see the rocket launch... which wouldn't be good if it's coming back in five minutes.

yes, Darwin is right. but it's also terribly publicity to land a rocket on top of tourists, especially within range of cameras on shore...

They'd be a shoe-in for the Darwin Prize, though.

See the title of the other thread... (you know, the one where we actually
discuss the mission instead of party)
http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/index.php?topic=33089.0This is the "OG2" mission.... see the capitalized letters in the title??? NOW you now why I wanted to register a protest, the title is not one of Chris's better picks

You may just have to have been born before 1980 to get this one.
OG2 Mission, like OoGaa OooGaa which reminded me of the 'oogachaka' song (I can't stop this feeling)
we used to listen to in the '70s.

The Blue Swede version is the classic one, the original was done by B.J. Thomas - but my favorite is this one, by The 'Hoff.

I just finished buying my CRS-3 patch (off ebay) and now I am going to turn around next paycheck and get ready for Orbcomm OG2 M1 usually SpaceX gives me three or four months to save up haha. I could get used to this.
