First half-decent on-pad shot I've found, probably fuelling before the first attempt.
Almost approaches being hi-res :)

This rocket features the original layout; featuring a 2nd stage URM-2 that is wider than the lower 1st stage URM-1.

One question: in the original plans the URM-2 would have featured a reduced propellant load for the A1.2, is this still the case?

Just a silly question. Does it has a 3m fairing? Shouldn't it have at least a 4.1m for validating the A5? Related question: what fairings will be available on the Angara 5 family?

it would not reach its defined target with the added wight of the A5 fairing, A5 second stage and the A5 payload mass simulator. it would need booster units to get it up to upper atmosphere.

No webcast this time!  >:(

The live coverage of the first aborted launch attempt watched by the Russian president Vladimir Putin was apparently considered as a major embarrassment by the Russian space officials, leading to a ban of TV broadcasts during the launch of the Meteor-M2 satellite on Tuesday and leaving practically no chance for the Russian public to see the historic first launch of the Angara

Sadly but I can understand the choice to not broadcast the launch live.

If Putin seen again an launch abort or maybe even a failure, it would impact the budget of Roscosmos in a negative way.

No webcast, no photos from today, no information in news and other Russian media, no known leaks through Twitter - as if there was no launch scheduled today.

Looks like a stepback to the old times, along "failure? what failure, we did not even attempt any launch" lines.

This is not the behavior of a confident, honest space program management. It raises fears they will make other stupid, self-preservationist decisions elsewhere in the operational flow. When avoiding the displeasure of the tsar becomes the greatest good, the usefulness of the function diminishes.
