Feature length documentary X-15
« on: 03/13/2014 07:11 am »
I stumbled across this great early 90's documentary on the X-15. With, for me, minutes and minutes of unseen footage.
Even an X-15 doing a barrer role at 33:42

Enjoy,

You know your a space geek when while typing a reply on NSF you look up from it to watch the barrel roll (since you did not skip ahead).

Thanks for posting the link.

That documentary was aired on Dutch TV many years ago. I still have it on VHS.

Is the quality any good? In that case, you should think of having it digitized.

Wow I remember that one!!!  It actually aired for the first time in the Fall of 1981 on NBC.  I was 13 at the time and my Grandfather was the only one with a VCR back then.  I can't remember how many times I watched that.  Too bad the beginning was clipped as it started with the landing of Columbia STS1 on the lake bed.  It's a very high quality show.  They don't make them like that anymore.  Hard to believe there was ever something like that shown on network TV in prime time no less.

Thanks for the link and the memories!

Its a great film! First time I saw it was on A&E called "The Rocket Pilots" some 30 years back. 8) It's available on DVD on the net and I was meaning to order it. If I find the link again I'll post it. :)
