How about "A Leg Up" for the next party thread name?

Just catching up on a few days' worth of frantic news...
this was worth resurrecting, but won't waste text on the reporter's cheap shot

And I'd sell my right arm to have Space.com's presence!

...patience young grasshopper...
We at NSF know how this story will end.

A possible suggestion for OG2 party thread title, "Come Back"  by J. Geils.  Or that could be used for the first RTL party thread.

Before we move on to the next launch….
Too bad we're probably not going to get any HD photos of this dirty rocket with it's legs extended just prior to splash down. All that dirty water blasted on to it and streaked from acceleration, makes it look so used, as though this is it's 19th or 72nd mission. I bet it would've looked even more used with it's legs spread.(Ok that just sounds wrong. Glad I don't use she for this vehicle.  :-[  )

I don't know for sure, but I wonder if max Q acts as a powerwash.

Since this is a party thread, I'll suggest an alternative for cleaning up cores that are intended for re-use.

Just partner with a number of nearby Florida high school booster organizations: lots of sponges and garden hoses on a Saturday afternoon.  :)

This is why you never buy a white pickup truck. Any reason you can't paint a rocket in earth tones? How about camo?

Light colors only, mostly white. Can't have the booster soaking up sunlight and warming up even more. No evil mastermind black rocket boosters, sorry.

That's only an issue for daytime launches. But launches in the middle of the night might get a sponsored livery.

I am still waiting for the Jade Falcon (look up Battletech) one of these days.  :D

I hope the sponsors can also afford the world's largest spotlight or that nice paint job won't be visible after the rocket clears the pad.

??? why would you need to see the livery after clearing the lighting towers. The sponsors will be more than happy for the coverage from pre-launch to shortly after take off with their livery on display.

If you must have illumination for longer period of time. May I remind you of the illuminated tail livery on almost all airliners.

Great idea, but I prefer a different song...  First RTL should be "Get Back (to where you once belonged.)"

I think we might be due for a new party thread, seeing as we are 11 days away if the schedule holds. I hope it does as I'll be able to attend that launch. Still haven't been able to catch a launch of Falcon in person yet, its hard to work around an 8 hour drive down without making a weekend out of it.

What would be a good title though?  ;D

Okay, evil mastermind SOLID boosters should work. I was thinking of REAL rockets and not glorified firecrackers. Real ones tend to have liquid oxygen and Some Other Stuff as fuel and liquid oxygen tends to want to boil off...

Well I already weighed in:
Since there's going to be a little bit of a boost-back on this launch, but not all they way back to the pad, should the party thread be "Don't Call It A Comeback" ?

Well, if SpaceX get to 1 hour turnaround, that might not be a lot of time showing for the payment :)

Illuminated livery would require lights, which might change the aerodynamics a bit... but if there's money in it, SpaceX may take the payload hit :)

Also, I like "Don't call it a comeback" for the next thread.
