Considering this is the party thread... for me "pushing the boundaries" would be if the stage was refueled right there while floating in the sea, then took off and landed somewhere else  ;)

I don't think they need to go that far. If the stage was recovered in good enough condition that they are taking it to McGregor for testing, that would do it.

I'm hoping for an announcement that the FH demo launch will be a fully equipped BA330.

More wild speculation: FH demo flight is Mars bound?

So, the designers just sent me a shot of the prototype party thread keyboard, soon to be available in both USB and bluetooth varieties.

(Waiting for this news is *easy* for a world-class wait-er.  Ten weeks in, my girlfriend *still* hasn't finished the crossword puzzle I painstakingly created, following all those esoteric rules, for Valentine's Day.  We won't even talk about the yet unopened present from last July. ;D)

I also think this may have something to do with the FH launch moving over to Florida. There are lot of interesting missions that could be flown with such a rocket/capsule duo from KSC. I will say that we're quite a ways from a launch window to Mars, but a pressurized vehicle flying around the moon and back would be pretty exciting as well!

Thanks. I've been following this forum for a while, and I figured a party thread would be the best place to try out my first post.

Far out speculation? I'll give it a go. How about SpaceX announces that they have secured one of the two top slots for commercial crew. I know NASA is slated to tell all soon. I'm pretty sure it's about the first stage but, who knows.

All this speculation is just over the top. What really happened is that Elon used his ironman suit and just recovered both the first and second stage the easy way. Just did it by hand.  8)

In an interesting aside about crew.  The building that SpaceX uses as their Vandenberg launch control Building 8500, was originally built as crew quarters for Space shuttle astronauts.

My Uncle Jesse used to by stuff from a scrap dealer outside Huntsville and make redneck campers. When he said he sold one of his rigs to a bunch of kids from California I thought he meant hippies.

I'm having a hard time imagining what the news could be that it would make "pushing boundaries" the understatement of the year. It seems like the only real possibility on the first stage is that the stage was found intact and recoverable. Even that possibility seems a little mundane with Chris' statement in mind.

Unless it's something to do with the second stage, as some people have mentioned.

My hyperbole detector is going off. Chris, prove me wrong!  ;D

Chris gave SpaceX 24 hours to respond after which the information will get posted on L2? Does that mean that the information will be posted tonight on L2 if he doesn't get an official response?

Hyperbole indeed. At this rate, anything short of StarfleetSpaceX engineers bolting warp nacelles on the next DragonRider is going to seem like an anticlimax ;D

IMHO: Only thing plausible and more than "just" landing the first stage intact (which would already be spectacular), would be a hoover above the water and manoeuvring the stage - just like Grasshopper. Can't see they've already made some strides regarding the second stage ...

I saw the original post, and people should calm down. It was just some more information about the descent and landing of CRS-3.
