"Next spring will go into orbit a new spacecraft {from} MSU {Moscow State University} named after the founder of the university. "Mikhail Lomonosov" is the third representative of the space fleet {of the} main university of the country - after two mini-satellites "Tatiana" and "Tatiana-2". Today in the shops of the enterprise VNIIEM where  the satellite was built, "Lomonosov" passes the test-launch."

Well this little spacecraft is now no longer planned to launch on a Soyuz-2.1v, nor it will head for space from Plesetsk - in fact it has become the main payload of the first ever launch of the new Vostochny Cosmodrome late next year, on board a Soyuz-2.1a topped with the Volga upper stage. When is that prestige Soyuz rocket going to be sent to Vostochny? There isn't much time left to do all the fit check and wet dress rehearsals if the Russians are still aiming to provide a spaceflight community Christmas present with it.....

.....or are they going to skip them and head straight for launch?

Roscosmos: Lomonosov Satellite Prepared for Operation

VNIIEM corporation has successfully completed the development of Lomonosov research spacecraft.

The spacecraft has undergone the qualification tests with a positive result. All the requirements of the technical project were met.

Currently, Lomonosov spacecraft is in the assembly, integration, and test building of VNIIEM corporation and after the final operations it will be ready for transfer to Vostochny cosmodrome.

Lomonosov research spacecraft is being developed upon the order of Lomonosov Moscow State University by VNIIEM corporation and is designed for scientific experiments on transit luminous phenomena of the Earth’s upper atmosphere and the radiation parameters of the Earth’s magnetosphere and fundamental space research. The spacecraft carries a space telescope to measure the energetic spectrum and establish the chemical composition of the space rays of extreme high energy from the near-earth orbit. Moreover, the spacecraft carries equipment complexes for the analysis of space gamma-splashes and the near-earth magnetosphere.

VNIIEM corporation possesses a 70-year research and practical experience in developing research equipment for Roscosmos, Rosatom, Gasprom, Russian Academy of Science, Natural Resource Ministry, Emergency Situation Ministry, and other departments. Izvestiya is quoting a source within Roskosmos as saying that the first launch from Vostochnyy is not likely to occur before June/July next year : "To everyone involved it's already clear that the launch will be delayed and there is no reason to hide that any longer. The only question is when and by who this will be announced". A highly-placed Roskosmos official told Izvestiya the announcement will probably be made in October.

The first Soyuz rocket to be launched from Vostochnyy arrived on 24 September, but the assembly building is not yet ready to accept the rocket. The various parts of the rocket are being kept in storage in railroad cars at the nearby railroad station of Uglegorsk, where they may have to remain "for a very long time". Even after all the necessary equipment has been installed in the assembly building, it will take at least another six months to test it. On top of that, the Soyuz rocket itself will need more time for testing than usual because it incorporates several modifications specifically needed to fly from Vostochnyy, according to Izvestiya's source. 

The Russians have almost religiously been trying to stick to the December 2015 deadline for the first Vostochnyy launch set by Putin back in 2007, so I guess more heads are likely to roll after the delay becomes official.

Those containers looking good, they look brand new also.
