I'm hoping SpaceX can still get the Thaicom-6 launch done before the end of the year.

In my experience, privately owned companies are no different in that their budgets (profit sharing, bonuses, capital equipment budgets, R&D budgets, etc) are set & judged by calendar year earnings.

If Thaicom-6 can launch in 2013, the bean counters can more easily allocate more dollars to the well deserving workers & accelerate work on exciting programs like MCD.

How about a spicy red nose?

You know they just closed the Sriracha factory due to smell complaints, that bottle is the last of the world's supply.

And so... Launching it, and taking it out of circulation, is a bad thing because???[1]

More seriously[2], we have seen fairings that have a lot more graphics and a lot less whitespace than the fairings SpaceX has launched so far. I wonder if we will see commercial adverts on SpaceX fairings any time soon? Might be a revenue sauce, er, source...

1 - NOT a Sriracha fan...
2 - SLIGHTLY, anyway

So, it's now been over a week since the SES launch.  Can we expect a launch date for Thaicom to be announced soon?

Only SpaceX can publish a firm target, so it'll depend on what they want to do and their path to setting one. I'm sure they - or probably Elon - will tweet something out when they are ready to do so.

Well, while I'm disappointed the party thread wasn't named "Thai 1 On"  of "Thai 6 On" given the expected temporal proximity of the launch to what for many of us is the New Year, I still plan to consume a beverage (or six) to celebrate the launch, (the test return?), the New Year and all that we have to be thankful for!

Said it before, and I'll say it again, there's no point posting launch dates on here if SpaceX have not made them official or it has come from an official source.

I can assure you a date has NOT yet been set. I know that for a fact.

Why don't we just set the dang thing ourselves and tell SpaceX what it's going to be?   8)

@411rocket,

Unfortunately, that's unlikely. If I read Chris's last article correctly, the Eastern Range closes down for maintenance on the 20th.

Now that is good news.. so there may just may be a remote possibility of launching in 2013.. very expesive fireworks to end the year..neat
