The Gusmobile, 1/32nd scale, in card

Don't know why I've been in the mood to build Gemini capsules of late; maybe it is nostalgia from the observances of the 50th anniversary of JFK's assassination. For building Gemini III, I used Delta 7 Studios' Gemini cardstock kit, but I reduced it from 1/24th scale to 1/32nd. Delta 7 Studios' models are pretty nice built as-is, but they also lend themselves to added detail if you're of a mind to do that. Modifications I made or details I added include:

-- Detail and wiring added to the nose;
-- Reduced the depth of the hatch coves;
-- Added window frame detail;
-- Added detail to the capsule (i.e., those four reddish panels near each hatch) cut from a second sheet of parts;
-- Scratchbuilt a more accurate Horizon Sensor;
-- Printed the Retrograde and Equipment sections on a glossy paper (called "coated text") to give it a glossier sheen than the capsule;
-- Detail added to the top and bottom of the Retrograde/Equipment Adapter Section;
-- Thin ring cut from cardstock added to bottom edge of Equipment Section;
-- Added ridge detail to the thruster packs and strap assembly on the Retrograde Section;
-- Added bands to represent the piece that separates the Retrograde and Equipment sections, and added panel detail;
-- Cut down the top and lower thruster housings to make them shorter; the ones provided in the kit are too tall;
-- Gold Mylar from an old helium balloon was used to represent the covering over the rear of the Equipment Section.
