Ariane launches a comsat. It's a comsat.

Falcon launches a comsat it's a step toward getting off this rock.

Every milestone Spacex makes reminds me of all the smaller things that got us to the moon. You want to wrap a commercial comsat in romanticism? Make it a milestone in a specific plan for human evolution.

Any launch is exciting, but this is definitely what makes me particularly excited about SpaceX launches. I've barely even been able to focus on work today!

It's a bit glum for a party thread.

What's missing is some music...

That's Manchester City's football (soccer) stadium. Not as big as Manchester United's Old Trafford, but great for concerts. Once nearly got very squashed there seeing Oasis. Kinds apt song for the thread from that gig:

Well I'll be happy to say something that may be misconstrued as "over the top" but, that's what we're here for , right?

Several times I've seen wonder expressed at how people are getting so excited for the launch of a typical comsat. At risk of extreme amazing people finger pointing I'd like to point out how this is so much more than that.

Ariane launches a comsat. It's a comsat.

Falcon launches a comsat it's a step toward getting off this rock.

I agree completely,  Would I drive or make an attempt to see an Ariane or ULA launch, sure I would, but would be only if I were in the area, would I take time out of my schedule to watch a private manned orbital launch, absolutely.

That would be only another launch.

That is perceived.  I get knocked down a notch at work for having too much fun.  ;-)
It is a good day when there is a launch.
We look for having a trifecta.  A launch, payday and some time with a lady* all on the same day.   Don't have to tell you that that having a launch on payday seems to happen more often than the other combinations.

There is there is untalked about superfecta where payday is moved to Saturday and Sunday during football season.

* I hope everybody knows what I mean.

Great! Perhaps that will allow us to leave behind this handegg discussion and let the real party start. :)

Sitting patiently for the webcast to begin. I was watching the Progress launch but, liftoff coverage was so lousy I came over here early. I guess I will never complain about the last SpaceX launch footage ever again. Well, here's to a great flight for SpaceX today!

Progress M-21M safely in space, so that's that one out of the way.

Getting stoked for this launch, if Falcon does this successfully, it's no longer a boy, but a true man  ;D

Will be kind of odd to me, not hearing "Attention pour le decont finale" before the launch ;)

Pretty hyper actually! ;D Nothing beats a launch or three!

Little bit stressing about the servers, as we're already very busy. Still way too many guests on here, despite my warning I might make it member access only (regular members, as opposed to L2).

We'll see how it goes. Site is still fast as of now.

Nothing against you or the members of NSF.com I must add. Your coverage as always was spot on. I just thought it was strange that the cameras turned away at the moment of the Progress launch. Of course, the Russian Space Program could care less about me haha....
