Typical E-school sausage fest  ;D which always devolved into
1) drinking and fighting or
2) drinking and finding another party to crash or
3) drinking and existentialist considerations of why we're here
 ;)
If I like something on NSF, it's probably because I know it to be accurate.  Every once in a while, it's just something I agree with.  Facts generally receive the former.

This is fun. We're witnessing why this may be the last ever party thread.

I'd be saddened if that were the case.  I think these party threads help with the NSF "community building" by giving a look into the various personalities on the site - without polluting the "information" threads.

And it IS fun!  Nothin' wrong with that ...

Chris has been working through with the flu, so he's not in the best of moods, understandably. He's not going to be happy with me repeating that!

I do think we can improve these Party threads, however. This site has always been about quality and I can only imagine what Chris is thinking when reading the last few pages of this thread. There were even some members posting twitter updates from other sites, ignoring the live update thread on this site, during the last countdown. Mix that in with "LOL" posts and you can the problem Chris has with it.

I'm sure Chris will find a solution to improve how this works.
Get well Chris! :) Your sacrifice of sleep, personal time and dedication to NSF are greatly appreciated by us all. You are the man! ;)

Yep. And sorry about being a party pooper. Got the sniffles (cheers Andy ;D) and slightly miserable.

What you guys want is what will be, so party threads will continue as required during major events.

Antares: You went to the wrong school! At Michigan Tech we typically did all three at once.  For extra credit we sometimes imported lovely ladies from a nearby (100 miles away is "nearby" in the UP) school...

Get well Chris... if your NET is Monday... no offense but I hope Falcon beats you out of bed. Still no word on today, (last I checked) so another nailbiter of a day I guess. :)

Get well soon Chris, and my apologies for the aggro; guess we can be as bad as a bunch of kids with too much energy when your feeling the tank is about empty...

Thinking back, with all the launches lately, you have run yourself ragged, and your immune system was just ripe for a bug...

In the meantime maybe we need a Chinese Lunar Goddess n' Bunny Party Thread? If more than 5 members here agree then I will open one in the correct section.  ;D

ok, holiday's out, back to normal then.

need a like button...  was also thinking we need something to distinguish the threads that is obvious like :

Green background - post away.. who cares
Yellow background - Think about what you are posting, people will have different options and post back - be prepared
Red background - If you don't know someone in the industry or are dating someone in at the launch provider no post - read only

You need a good dose of this ;D, it is called MooseMilk.

40oz Lambs Dark Rum
40oz Kahlua
40oz Vodka
4L Vanilla Ice Cream (the good creamy expensive kind)
4L eggnog

Mix all together, breaking up the ice cream a bit.  Sprinkle nutmeg on top if you so desire.  Stir occasionally as the ice cream starts to melt.  Enjoy!

We just need a grumpy thread to balance it out.

It'll all work out because the solution is a successful launch. We will get a launch then the party will move on to a new mission, new thread with very limited hang-over from all of the tribulations of this SES-8 mission.

Soon missions will launch during the first window so the party threads will be about celebration, not worry about the new Falcon 9 v1.1 or the new launch pad infrastructure. At least until SpaceX builds their next new pad. Of course we have recovery to worry about down the road so it won't all be sunshine and roses.

If anything, SpaceX is more likely to keep pushing the envelope on every single flight, until they are shuttling people to space like a yellow cab. ;)
Plenty of stuff to discuss en gossip about till that moment in the far future, I'd expect. :)

I would hate to see the format change.  A discussion thread, an update thread, and a blow-off-steam thread because we know that this is hard and it is good to have a place to work out the nervous energy.

Yeah, along with "Hey you kids, get off my launch pad!"
(esp. for LC 39-A discussions!)

Hey, hey, get offa my cloud ;-)

edit, now if the Big Bird doesn't fly on Monday, then there might be a few words to be had with Elon and the boys/girls at SLC-40 (PADRAT!!) ;)

Good explanation about the ignition issue.

Good post about the TEA-TEB issue.  Maybe we should consider another musical theme…. As pointed out, You Can't Start a Fire without a Spark.
