1/200 AMT Man in Space Kit
« on: 10/07/2013 03:47 am »
Last April, during my visit to a family condo in Arizona I started the AMT Man in Space kit to be assembled and displayed there.  I'm finishing up another visit to that condo and have gotten substantial work done on it.  I'm done for now but will resume work on it next month when I get back here.
I'll even excitedly look forward to "flags and footprints" and suborbital missions. Just fly...somewhere.

And here are the finished Redstone, Atlas, Titan models next to my same scale shuttle stack.

Very nice!!  I still remember building that kit so long ago, with the cardboard display they all stood on.

Thanks!  My Man in Space kit came with a cardboard launch tower display, but I'm not sure I'll use it.  It's too big for the area I have to use to display it, and it's a little unwieldy.

I'm back in the condo for a few days and have been working on the 2 Saturns.  Here's the latest:

Did you know they are releasing the Saturn V from this set separately now?  You can get Skylab shroud from Realspace Models and do the Skylab-Saturn V to scale!

I didn't know that about the separate Saturn V.  I would hope it got retooled a little bit with more accurate decals.  As for Skylab-Saturn, I would rather build a Skylab space station in flight, show it next to Mir and ISS.

Anyway the Man in Space kit is finished!  Here's my 1/200 US Human Spaceflight Launch Vehicle collection:

those look cool.   It is nice to see all the launch vehicles in scale against one another.
