Call of Duty: Ghosts - video game
« on: 09/11/2013 05:15 am »
Part of the plot takes place in LEO. The suits the astronauts are wearing appear to be inspired by ACES, the Shuttle/ISS EMU, Orlan and the Red Bull Stratos suit. An unusual looking spaceplane is shown. Oddly enough you later see the Space Shuttle orbiter on an astronaut's patch. The space station seen bears a resemblance to the ISS (ex: Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer, Quest airlock, PMA, etc) and has a USOS-styled interior with mission patch stickers on the walls.

ODIN is apparently a satellite weapons system that was deployed near the ISS by the Air Force. There's a cool scene in the trailer where six astronauts deploy from the payload bay while wearing MMU-like backpacks.

The weapon looks like the "rods from God" concept.

My little brother has been talking about this game a lot, it actually looks really cool. They haven't revealed the enemies of the game yet but the space suits appear to be based on Russian ones, which is really the only enemy I'd expect at this point.

Also, shuttle in the beginning looks like an X-37C.

Edit: It looks like the enemies have a European Union patch on their backs? What? How? I don't even... Let's just say I wish to be able to change sides.

They mention "south of the equator" so an an alliance of Australia, South Africa, and Brazil or something?

Just seen that trailer too.

Modern Warfare's lost its way. GTA V is going to the big deal this year.

I came here from the COD wiki to escape gaming discussions, but hey, why not.

Maybe a Red Alert 2 thing, where Russia stations its troops in large quantities in South America and Mexico to invade the US. Otherwise... Brazil or Australia? Seems a bit far fetched to me, even for a CoD game.

The troop deployment from a payload bay was pretty obviously based on Moonraker (although there really isn't many other ways to do it).

Just seen that trailer too.

Modern Warfare's lost its way. GTA V is going to the big deal this year.

I think it'll be Battlefield 4 for me this year. I really don't see how many times they can expect to rehash COD over and over again. I wish Steam would let me return Black Ops 2. Couldn't stand that P.O.S enough to even finish the Campaign...

Same here, both for BF4 and CoD experience.
I wonder how this will handle space combat - A game called Shattered Horizon did it pretty ok, but its playerbase has sadly dissapeared. It includes full 3 dimensional combat in zero G, with an asteroid ring being placed around the earth and various space stations and so forth available in maps.

Ah well, onto Star Citizen and Kerbal Space Program for space games...

Let's hope with such a ridiculously high budget they can actually deliver something of quality.

COD games are all very generic. I've always preferred counterstrike.

The weapon looks like the "rods from God" concept.

They are as they say in the vid "the rods didn't just decimate the land" and from the line "You never expect something to trust to turn against you" it suggests that it's not the ISS we're seeing but an orbital command post for a series of those "ODIN" satellites. The first part would seem to indicate the "bad-guys" took out/over the command station and re-aligned the system to drop on the US. Leaving us vulnerable to an over-land attack through or from South America.

I've been a BF fan since it came out but have yet to play any of them past BF:2, Bad Company-2. Just haven't had to urge to go further.

Mostly been playing ME/ME2/ME3 and Crysis-1/1.5/2

BF:BC2 was the first one I'd played. Really like BF3, still playing it. To me there's just so much more to the game, more ways to define and refine your playing style than with COD. Heck, first online FPS I ever played was Rainbow Six: Vegas 2....
