Go SpaceX! Go Falcon! That was a real joy to watch. Had my heart pounding! Glad it came off so well.

Can someone describe the amount of ?water? that was flowing during the entire engine chill-down, even up to launch? Maybe I've never had such close view of the business end, but that was more than I remember ever seeing before.
TL;DR
Keep your posts short if you want them to be read.

I have to say, that was the most entertaining rocket launch I have ever seen.  Stuff actually happening on the pad for the whole 10 minutes before ignition.  I wished Gerry Anderson was still alive to see it, he would feel so vindicated!

Fantastic day for SpaceX and - dare I mention it here? - Orbital.  We have a space transport industry.
Absolutely! I would think respectful congrats between Orbital and SpaceX have already occurred.

Another boring non-event day for American space flight capabilities.

I think we've peaked. So close to the record.....
I'm predicting the record goes down for the first Heavy flight.
Agreed, then that will go down with the first F9R 1st stage return to pad landing attempt. And then all records shattered with first Crewed Dragon launch from 39A.

Not sure if this is the recovery ship finding something, or just turning around. It only lingered there for about five minutes or so.

Two ships went out, one is heading back to port now. The speculation is that this one got called off and the other one is heading towards something.

Maybe I'm mad, but I thought that might be LOX.  It didn't look viscous enough for water

Well, congratulations to SpaceX.  All the critical parts of the mission seem to have worked out and the payload was apparently delivered as planned, which is the bit that matters.  So! On to SES, probably in either late October/Early November.  That should be a very different baby - the first U/S re-light with payload attached and the first SpaceX flight to GTO.

Third-hand source. I'll believe it when it's official.

Until then, I will merely be insanely excited about it.

Isn't an 'ear-witness' a first hand source?

Great day for both -- and for the rest of us, too!   :D

:) I'd argue that she's listening to the first-hand source and is therefore second-hand. Could go either way though.

Not really, what we have is an anonymous someone saying someone else unnamed had their ear to the window at MCC-X.  Your guess is as good as ours whether or not that's legit or someone trying to sound big (nothing personal, if the poster of that report is reading this).

Many would, I'm sure, consider it merely "ear-say" ... ;)

My bad.  I was just looking for an excuse to stop holding my breath and uncross some of the appendages that are becoming uncomfortable.

This was a huge historic month for commercial space, with perfect launches from Orbital and SpaceX, and successful berthing for Cygnus.

Both are customers of the company I work for.   :D

Congratulations to SpaceX!  Anxiously awaiting word on the first stage.

Don't worry about it; just remember that the Internet is a strange and potentially hostile place.

I believe this is the track for the second ship.

It still seems outward bound so we can hope.
