Congratulations, SpaceX.  SpaceX now has a competitive revenue creating launch vehicle.  The only way is up.

Looking forward to rapid launch F9's along side development of F9R and FH.

1st stage did relight.  That is a nice piece of info.

Considering the second stage was so underburdened by CASSIOPE and the microsats, I wonder if it has enough fuel left to reach earth escape when they re-ignite it?

Spaceflightnow says there ought to be a communications pass of CASSIOPE any moment now--will that be enough to confirm separation?

A chill went down my spine when first-stage re-ignition was announced.

Is it correct that no other first stage has ever been re-ignited?

That was an amazing launch, so glad it went well. Another step towards manned dragon flights. :D ......by the way, does any body know if they recovered the first stage?

I think we're all trying to learn about that one!

I remember reading or hearing somewhere today that the 2nd stage will only have a single burn.

Chris reported on the update thread that CASSIOPE is healthy!

Congratulations, SpaceX!  That was a thriller.

Negative. Known that it will attempt a relight and burn to depletion.

SUCCESS!! Via L2 we have confirmation from the Cassiope folk S/C Sep and a healthy sat!!

Congratulations for SpaceX getting the best all-kerosene rocket ever to fly perfectly! They are now in a good position to take over the world, um I mean part of the space transportation market.  ;D

Now Jim, didn't you said that this launch won't happen till November........?  ;)

Did it actually re-ignite? All I heard on the webcast was "re-ignition command sent," but maybe I wasn't listening too carefully?

A few years ago Masten did a relight on one of their vehicles so technically no, this isn't a first in principle, although in scale I believe it is.

It's the first flight of Merlin 1D-Vac; they'll put as many flight minutes on it as they can.

yes, but after all payloads have been seperated - so not part of mission succes anymore.

And congratulations to SpaceX! and thanks NSF for the excellent coverage. Next - Proton!

I thought it was a perfect day as soon as the first stage separated successfully and the second stage lit. Given the probabilities of failure thrown out there before the launch, I considered anything beyond 2nd stage ignition to be a bonus.

Congrats SpaceX!!
