Well, I'm 49 and just about remember Apollo and the landings. I was glued to the TV for the first scrubbed and then the actual first launch of the shuttle.
SpaceX is finally filling the void and sense of loss that has been there since the realization that shuttle wasn't really going anywhere, and that I'd never see anybody else walk on the moon, and that Mars was lost.
SpaceX progress is just so inspiring and gives me the hope that we might yet get out of LEO in my lifetime.

Here in eastern Australia the window opens at 1am, I'll be up with a bottle of bubbles!

[Thanks guys, it is good to know that there is another generation that is just as excited as I was back when I was there age; bodes well for the future of Space Flight  :D

I'm 55, a little younger than you.  I remember playing hooky from school to watch Gemini launches, and of course I was glued to the TV for all of the Apollo missions.

SpaceX is making me feel like a kid again.  Sadly, I don't know anybody else my age who is as excited about it as I am.

My parents "made" us stay home for the launches ;) and share your excitement and sadness ;( when I mention space stuff, or future tech. I get the glass eyed look, "Here he goes again!!" so mostly just keep to myself.

In my case it was my own idea.  My mom would write a note for my teacher, and in most cases they understood and were probably happy to see me take an interest in watching history in the making.

In particular, my second grade teacher was very supportive and encouraged me.  I don't know her age, but she seemed like an old woman to me at the time.  But she was definitely a space buff.   :D
The Space Age is just starting to get interesting.

I hear you - I'm 56, and do what I can to watch when cool stuff is going on.  (When I got a KSC causeway pass for STS-135 at the last minute, I called my wife from work and said "I'm driving down to Florida next week - do you want to come?")    And I was thrilled whan my daughter (12 yo at the time) wanted to get up in the wee hours with me to watch the coverage of Curiosity's landing on Mars.  But there's just not the same raw, unbridled enthusiasm there.

On the plus side, my wife and daugther are off at Girl Scout camp for the weekend.  So I can plug the laptop into the big TV, and watch dockings and launches unmolested tomorrow in luxury, rather than on the "small screen" on the desktop in my office.

We lived in a little rural village, and if it wasn't sports related, it didn't matter; we were immigrants from London, England, so had a different idea of what was important ;) and I thought my first grade teacher was ancient, Mom told me later she was 22; youthful perceptions...

I'll be trapped in Disneyland (no, it's the one in Hong Kong  ;)) when Cygnus arrives at the ISS; back-up plans are in place to use my phone if I can't get back to home for this launch at midnight here......  ;)

I've got a nice big bottle of Bruery Sour in the Rye ready for the early afternoon when all goes well.  That seemed to be the brewery nearest Hawthorne, and I couldn't find a Canadian bomber.
If I like something on NSF, it's probably because I know it to be accurate.  Every once in a while, it's just something I agree with.  Facts generally receive the former.

Awesome that we'll be watching two historic space flight events happen within just a few hours from each other, from separate American companies and NASA! Pretty exciting time to be a space buff, especially with the big potential for commercial utilization of space...

I was thinking pretty much the same thing. The Titans play the Jets tomorrow here at home and by an incredible stroke of good fortune the game doesn't begin until 15:00 CST. I'll run out of Church (Closet atheist. It's Tennessee) Fire up the Livestream viewer on my iPhone in time to watch the launch before the game. (Never missed attending one of those either) I'm 50 and there's no way I can explain this to anyone my age so I don't try. It's seems to be considered abnormal for an adult to be passionate about anything except sports.

The guest of honor of this party was looking good this evening as the sun set over the Pacific. Enjoy!

I hope that the marine layer tomorrow morning would dissipate before 9am and not ending up like this launch:P

Whenever I watch ULA videos, I'm always impressed at how bad their video production groups are compared to SpaceX (and Tesla too for that matter). Always the wrong choices of music and in 360p no less.
LEO is the ocean, not an island (let alone a continent). We create cruise liners to ride the oceans, not artificial islands in the middle of them. We need a physical place, which has physical resources, to make our future out there.

There should be. I have it on my iPhone. Just did a search on "livestream" and found it.

And the main payload is a CSA-funded, Canadian-built research satellite; that itself is rare enough to celebrate!
