SLS 3D Model [WIP]
« on: 07/29/2013 04:19 am »
I think this is the right place to post this. So I just joined the forums, I figured since I have received many references and information from this site and its forums that I would show what I have been working on. Now Im working on the SLS/ORION for a school project and I want it to be some sort of animation when complete. I want it to be fairly realistic well as realistic as I can get it on information that is available. So if you see any glaring issues in my models please point them out and I will correct them. Now they are still in the early stages and I still have a lot more modeling to complete.

Now when this is complete I think it would be cool to get it 3D printed, and will probably making those files available for those who are interested.

EDIT: This is also going to be a KSP mod, if anyone plays that game, if you dont its tons of fun.

think it would look very good in our light model grey 3D printed.

Its great to work with cause you can add the color as you wish. Does your school have a 3D printer or do you have access to one?

There are only 4 SSME's on the SLS core. The 5th (center) engine was eliminated some time ago.

Loving this! Yes, we can use our knowledge to refine it...such as the four RS-25s, and whatever refinements to the OML are required.

Thanks guys for the info Ill be sure to correct that, I was curious about that part, Ill probably have many questions coming in the future.

Also I personally dont have a 3D printer but my school does, but its OC right now from overuse.

Oh and I dont know how many of you play KSP, but Im working on LOW poly models of these to be imported into the game as a MOD.

Just finished midterms in school I was able to use my model as an animation for one of my classes :). Dont mind the launchpad i literally made it in 2.5 seconds.

I have started remodeling the RS-25 portion of the model to fit better with the 4 instead of the 5. Working on fine detail now and starting to texture everything. I do have a question about the SRB, how and where does it connect to the core stage?

*EDIT* I thought it was going to embed the video, here is the youtube link.
