Making the Insta-foam on the SRBs

Any tips on how to do this for the Revell/Monogram 1/72 scale kit?

Styrene strip or Milliput, I'd say.  There's a good thread on the 1/144 stack over here (the shaping of the insta-foam is post #6) which may be of some help.

I fully agree with Milliput, it is adhesive to most materials, tough and durable, and self hardening.

Epoxy putty will work too. Smooth it with a wet finger or mini-spatula.

i did mine using putty.  and just painted it.    the stuff on the real srb is not done to neatly so i tried to mimin that

I did mine using Squadron white putty and then painted it.
